Quest has hired the same agent that represents Gipson. Word is he (Gipson) is going to be rewarded with a big contract. I have heard through the grape vine of course, LOL, that he will get quest drafted and negotiate a good starting contract. All heresy of course.
Apparently you don't know much about NFL rookie contracts.

I admit it......I know nothing about NFL rookie contracts so why don't you dazzle us all with your plethora of knowledge concerning the process. Because after all I am sure you are either and NFL player or a Jerry Maguire type of agent who has done this for years. I am sure you are not an overweight unathletic social recluse type of a person. LOL. Proceeded Jedi warrior..........
1. Petty insults are a great way to show how intelligent you are.
2. Unathletic is not a word.
3. Heresy does not equal hearsay.

To respond to your post, rookie contracts have very little negotiation in them. The effect agents have on rookie contracts is minimal, especially for guys taken later in the draft. Here are a few articles that explain the new contracts.

Thank you for your editing expertise. I am a better writer and now more informed about rookie contracts. However, Let's not speculate on levels of education "cause ya all mite be surprised at how well eduemcated this here partner is".

My point ( I Think ) was simply that he has hired the same agent that Gipson switched to this year. Gip's contract is yet to be determined but the rumbling is that it will be considerably better than many expect. So if Quest gets through his rookie year and can make it to the negotiating table I think he will be served well. That is if he gets drafted and can make it on to a teams active roster.

Oh hell.. I forgot the little mark between the word team and the "s" to show possession. What should I do... well hopefully DVDA will correct it and the world will be a better place, or at least he /she will have asserted their academic superiority for all of us to marvel at. :P

Drafted players can't sign an extension until after their third year in the league.

Sooooooo what you are saying is.......he may be better served as a free agent?
Getting drafted will get a player more guaranteed money. If they flame out, they still get their signing bonus which is much higher than undrafted players. Drafted players also get preferential treatment since a GM will look foolish cutting a player he drafted in order to keep an undrafted guy. Players on the active roster get paid at least the league minimum which is around 400,000 dollars. Undrafted players are usually lucky to make the practice squad which will pay about 100,000 dollars over a season, assuming a team keeps the player on the practice squad all year.

Undrafted players get tiny signing bonuses, often in the 3000 to 5000 dollar range. Highly coveted UDFA can get upwards of 20000 dollars but that doesn't happen very often. This is a major disadvantage of being an UDFA. If you are successful as an UDFA, you have the advantage of being able to sign a new contract after two years in the NFL. This has worked to Tashaun Gipson's advantage, but most undrafted players never make it to their second contract. The negative right now for Gipson is the lack of security he has from his first contract. The Browns know he will risk a lot by playing this next season without a new contract so they will low-ball him into a team friendly contract. In my opinion, he should try to get a 2-3 year extension that is mostly guaranteed and then look to hit the open market in his prime.

I believe in Marqueston Huff's ability to play in the NFL, but getting drafted will guarantee him a solid chunk of change without ever playing a down of NFL football. The failure rate in the NFL is high so I would recommend the safe route.

These are the contracts from the 2012 draft. They may not be perfect but they should be fairly accurate.

See, now this was a helpful and insightful post. No condescending tone, no insults just straight forward fact sprinkled with an opinion or two. Had this response came after my post rather than "Apparently you don't know much about NFL rookie contracts" this whole dialogue could have been avoided and my feelings wouldn't have gotten hurt. I applaud your willingness to share your knowledge with the audience of this post minus any hurtful or condescending remarks. :thumb:

You want a little insider info.......well look for a high profile receiver to be on crutches in the near future. ;)

So will Dom miss spring ball?

If I had to guess I would say yes. Minimum 6 weeks non weight bearing then PT. I would be surprised if he is ready for Spring drills....but he is a tough kid. But i am just guessing here.
