Tressel has a show cause order. Non-starter. Seriously, stop with the damaged goods, people.

What's a show cause order?

Texas produces a LOT of D1 talent, what's your point?
One point about it is that those top recruits go to power conference teams almost every single time.
So you think just because he recruited talent to Kansas, doesn't mean he can get that same type of talent to Wyo?
More like he got the talent because it was the Big12, not because of the coach?
Here is the show cause order for Tressel.......not sure just how detrimental it would beone-smooth-poke said:BeaverPoke said:Cowduck said:Pokes Forever said:Has anyone brought up Jim Tressel?

He can build the program to where it should be.
He is a good enough coach where, he could get his top assistant to take over for 5 games, and a bowl game and could still win.

Just curious... How did he cause them to be awful?

He was fired straight up for his anger issues. He at 30+ players threaten to leave if he didn't. He really was an ill tempered guy. I remember watching him on the sideline in Laramie when he had KU up 42-14. WYO made a comeback, and throughout that comeback, the rest of the game he was yelling at his players, in their face ant cussing them out. He was throwing his headset at players. The best or worst I saw was when his QB was standing next to him getting an earful. He had his helmet off. I felt bad for the kid, I was 30+ feet away and thought Mangino was loud. But he did nothing but berate the kid for the full defensive possession. I remember he said,"Do you think you can find the open man for once in this whole game! Maybe protect the fucking football? Or are you too much of a pussy to do the little things! Go fucking take care of the football!" Then he slapped the kid hard across the face with his play book. I remember the QB gave him a look, like,"why the hell did he just hit me".
Before he was fired, several of those players quit. Recruiting went to hell, because most didn't feel even the AD had the best interest in the players. Every year for about 6 of his years there would always be a group of football players going to the AD, that group got larger every year and was still ignored, until it was too many.
I don't know if he's changed his attitude of not, but if there is a risk of that on the sideline, it ain't worth it.
KansasPoke said:Mangino is a very good coach and fits Burman's criteria IMO. He got a horrible wrap at the end of his Kansas gig. Basically Lew Perkins trashed the man and got away with it. KU lost the best thing they ever had as a football coach. Look at them now and that was NOT Mangino's fault for those two coaches failures.
Here is a good write up on Mangino from a few months ago.

Most of the people in this thread trashing Mangino have no clue what they are talking about.

Yep, Seattle, your right. Watching it first hand, coaching with fellow coaches who played for the man, and even seeing his attitude on video on YouTube is nothing to note. Not to mention everything coming out the time he was fired.
