Mark Mangino

Wyoming should go after another Division II coach, like Glenn. That worked out fantastic for us.
I don't think we've ever hired a Division II coach, have we?

Not to my knowledge. We did try a highly successful FCS HC and a highly touted OC from Mizzou. Neither has done very well though.

Which goes to show, this is more of a crap shoot than some fans want to admit.

Javon Bouknight probably isn't ready to be an OC.
Bryan Johnson was the OC at Utah and they struggled REALLY bad, and then had to hire Erickson to help out.

I view spack as a bit different than Glenn or DC, he was a high level coordinator ( similar to DC) and he is an FCS head coach ( like Glenn). What makes him different from UW's last two coaches is his mixture of experience. DC was flawed because he couldn't bring in an established staff. Glenn was flawed because he never coached or recruited at a D1 level. Spack seems to be a better rounded candidate, and he was also here during our last truly good teams.

No on Mangino. I want nothing to do with a coach with a reputation as borderline abusive towards players. It's hard enough to recruit to UW as it is and we don't need the PR baggage that goes along with him. Same goes for Barnett, Petrino, and any other coach with a tarnished public image. There's too much risk in a hire like that.

Glenn was a D2 coach, then went to Montana at FCS division.
So in other words, no we didn't hire a DII coach to coach the Cowboys. Pfft.

This guy is as disgusting as they come as a HC and representative of Wyoming.
Both he and Petrino are social misfits.
Lets hire either the biggest perv, or the fattest f..k on the planet to represent our program.

absurd logic.

Well hiring the nicest guy and the biggest ass hole didn't help so why not?

Why wait... Let's start discussing who the next head coach at The University of Wyoming shall be.

Mark Mangino would be #1 on my list. He's currently at Youngstown State and openly looking for another HC gig. The guy won big time at Kansas of all places. Look where they've been before and after him.

I think he would be a great fit for Laramie.

Okay, Mangino did have some success at Kansas. But, he is also the reason tha KU has fallen so hard and cannot climb back up.

Puke.
His winning at Kansas is not what one calls big time winning.
Kansas had years of Big 12 money. Big 12 teams recruited Texas. I wonder how many players he had out of Texas. I don't care to look it up but if you saw Missouri win last night I kept hearing how the players making plays were from Texas. One after another after another. It's so shameful....but anyway I think Missouri has 35-40 Texas players on its roster.
I think he put a bigga mancha on Kansas and then its next hire was bad and now Kansas has what it's got.
I haven't paid attention to its recruiting now.

I know to much about Mangino already that is a big turn off.

Has anyone brought up Jim Tressel?

Nope, but my mouth just started watering.
Tressel would be GREAT.

He isn't doing much right now, working as like, a video coordinator for Akron.
After what he has went through, he would probably love a MWC job.
I wouldn't be surprised if a BCS conference offered him this offseason though.

But man, Tressel here for 2-4 years, then he can go back to a big time program.
I think Tressel would be GREAT.

Almost every good team recruits out of Texas.
Texas produces a LOT of D1 talent, what's your point?

One point about it is that those top recruits go to power conference teams almost every single time.

So you think just because he recruited talent to Kansas, doesn't mean he can get that same type of talent to Wyo?

More like he got the talent because it was the Big12, not because of the coach?
