Something ive been thinking about; a few keys to shut the mouths
Its Monday night... homestretch coming up. Many voters and media have us picking our noses in march. Underdogs again. that's where we play best though. very few basketball minds believe in what coach shy is doing (whether he is coach of the year material). Personally, I like to look at the growth curve. renovations, increased attendance, increased wins, increased competitiveness, and a new brand. I've talked about having a trademark style before (although a long time ago).
as we sit outside looking in right now I think we have an opportunity that absolutely did not exist for the past 13 years (bad team, bad coach, injuries, off court issues). we can compete, and we also have the players and senior talent to scare and pressure opposing teams. teams hate being behind to Wyoming... and they always tend to blame a loss too us due to external factors... instead of just admitting defeat. We have a story this year that needs to make the tournament, a story of determination, grit and guts, wind and desolation. A great coach, a star, and a defense; but more importantly a team that plays for the right reasons.
We need to start opening a can of whip-ass! We have a great defense... but everybody (coach, team, fans!) have been waiting for a renaissance of offense. Its Monday night, Nance is coming back, the offense is clicking. we are standing at the edge looking over ready to take the leap. it all starts with fresno. And we need to punish those fools. Margin of victory is a strange stat for voters. they state that a win is a win... but fans and espn love getting behind underdogs in the homestretch, especially when said underdog gets hot right before the tournament.
its time to shut out the noise and kick ass. Its been a great season already, Im proud of our team. This is the best opportunity Wyoming has had... since shyatt built our last tournament team.
