Marc Bailey

Absolutely not. This program, more than ever, needs guys that can win, can bring experience, and can bring contacts from all over the country. Marcus Bailey can do none of those things. He's never coached at a collegiate level, he's never recruited at a collegiate level, and he has ZERO experience. All of the coaches hired have coaching experience. The homer in many people really pisses me off sometimes.. just because he's from Wyoming doesn't automatically mean spot on the bench coaching.. put in your time, then come back and coach. MANY coaches start out as GAs.. you don't just get a spot to coach after you graduate... maybe in high school, but not division 1 basketball.

Shyatt and Duncan are great hires for the university. Marc Bailey would make a great grad assistant, but why would we pay him as an assistant when he has no expearince? I hate comparing football and basketball, but Jovon Bouknight didn't get handed a position at UW(or any school) just because he was a superstar. He had to become a graduate assistant for Glenn and than he took an assistant position at Utah State ( I think he might of had to be a GA there 1st as well). I am a fan of Bailey but I hold nothing against Shyatt for not making him a paid assistant, Shyatt's job is to create the best staff possible.

Huge pressure to win and improve right now. Gosar may be a great coach one day but no way Burman takes that risk right now. Bailey...kind of same unproven boat or even more so.

I hope we do see them At UW coaching one day. that would be great.

I think that guy should ask Marcus before posting something like that. Bailey said if he didn't get it, he didn't get it.

Go a little easy. Jeff is his younger brother and a great guy from a great family.

I hope by now that Shyatt has reached out to Marcus and all the other Cowboy greats. Because it's not my family member, I can understand that the staff had more pressing items on the recruiting trail for the past few weeks. But I also understand if Jeff is a little bent that Marcus hasn't heard from anyone.

People get funny about family.

I agree with the "homer" comment. People think that because someone's from Wyoming they will be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Didn't keep people from raking Burman over the coals though. There may very well be a day that Steve Gosar or Jeremy Cox may be the face of UW basketball and I think that would be great. That day isn't today, however. Cox is probably a few years away from being ready and Gosar is probably even a few years more. Until Bailey gets some experience, any experience, he doesn't even need to be in the discussion. Unfortunately, I think a few people with little or no knowledge about college basketball started talking Marcus and the job up and the family started seeing stars in their eyes. That was unfortunate.

My biggest beef with my fellow Wyomingites in the UW fanbase, the constant whine for a 'Wyoming guy.' Who really cares? Why is that so important?

It also bleeds into my biggest gripe with other Wyomingites outside of sports, that whole, "go away" closed-minded attitude that is all far too prevalent. :twocents:
