Man... I hope we can kick a field goal this year

I think not being able to get any points on a lot of drives was a lot more detrimental than many of you think especially on a 4th and long. If the other team scores a FG or TD, that's a 6 or 10 point swing instead of 0 or only 4. But I'm not counting my kicking eggs until they're flying through the uprights

Four things have to happen every kick. 1. Snap 2. Blocking. 3. Hold. 4. Kick. It's a lot to execute and we seem sloppy in every area of that process. I don't like to be critical and I rarely speak up on kicker topics, but is our special teams coach aware of this?

Any kicker can look like a pro in practice but it's putting those 4 elements together in a game that go along with a successful field goal unit.

I always tried to find a holder and snapper that were bench warmers, I don't want to starters in those positions because I would get more time to work with them. Our special teams doesn't have it setup that way. Those 3 should be like glue. Snap-hold-kick. That's the way to practice.
 
We've had the same longer snapper for a few years now....that is his job. Not sure who the holder was. We didn't have many kicks blocked. From what I could tell....our kicker just wasn't very accurate last year. Hopefully the new kicker can turn our kicking woes around.

Two years ago at home against San Jose I believe it was homecoming ...seconds left, middle of the field for the win.....chip shot for most teams, right? I can still hear that ball hitting the uprights, as all post season hopes went out the window. Seriously how important is a kicker to a team that needs every damn point to win?
 
That is a lot of pressure on a freshman kicker. Hope he is able to practice with the snapper and holder prior to fall camp.

I disagree. Last year was the worst team I have ever seen in a wyoming jersey.

This year is going to be different though! 16 - 0 here we come! :D :thumb:

If we can't be optimistic about our future because of last season, then we might as well drop down to FCS or even Division II. Then, maybe McPeachy would let the others on this board say something positive about the program.

I'm so glad you're here to lead the way to show us the proper way to be a fan of the Wyoming Cowboys!

Easy there monkeyboy...

Saying something positive does not equal even remotely the same thing as saying UW is going 15 & 0 and winning the national championship this year in football.

I certainly can show you how to be a Wyoming fan if you would like. But let's at least wait until you have gone through the ups and downs that I have over the last 40+ years of being a Wyoming fan. And let's wait until you have donated & spent well over 6 figures - in tickets, seat premiums, and CJC donations. I have earned my views and outlook...whether you like to admit it (or see that) or not.

Well certainly not...but we are talking about making a positive comment versus making a realistic comment...or did you miss that part of monkeyboy's post and my response?

Is it positive to post something about UW Football going 15 & 0 and being national champions - sure. Is it realistic, you decide.

Well at least he's more qualified than Holmgren, he spent his 11 months here trying his best to do just that.
 
It's the preseason, reality doesn't set in until the first play from scrimmage. If I remember right, we gave up a TD?

Until then, here's to the first of 36 straight wins.
