Maldo.....

The Key to the rest of our season is Maldo. We will only go as far has he takes us. He turns the ball over way too much. He is not the greatest ball handler and teams know to pressure him is our weakness. If he plays well, pokes will beat anybody in the conference....

I hoped Foster would be our point, or Reynolds (when he plays slow and in some control)...Maldos minutes are starting to show

I'm not trying to hate on Maldo, he has been a gamer and he will probably be first or second team all conference. He just needs to play smarter, and be a little tougher with the ball. He is the key to the season.
The good news from last night is that we played like shit and still very easily could have won the game.

We don't have a guard on this team that has the handles required for D1 basketball.

Whatever this truly means??? I think we're doing fairly "ok", call me crazy!

We are doing ok, but it is in spite of not having great ball-handling...not because of it. You don't need a Josh Adams level PG...this team with a Riley Grabau style point guard would have less turnovers and be better defensively on the perimeter. Maldo is literally our best option to handle the ball under pressure...I love him but that is not something he's good at.

What you saw last night may be a preview of next year: No Maldo and coaches figuring out how to defend the Poke offense.

Exactly this. We need someone who can dime out assists, not give up a bunch of turnovers, and lock down the quicker guards in the league. We don't have that right now, although DuSell has shown flashes of being a good lock-down perimeter defender.

Maldo has been an elite pg this year. He's allowed to have one bad game. I think some are being too hard on him.

It wasn’t just Maldonado though.

Maldonado did shoot 2-12 and had 4 assists and 8 turnovers. So obviously bad game, worst of the year for him.

Ike while he did score and rebound had only 1 assist and 4 turnovers. So not a good assist to turnover ratio.

Jeffries was 2-9 and 1-8 from 3. When is the last time Jeffries shot that bad? His worst game shooting this year by far.

Dusell played 13 minutes and had 0 points, 0 rebounds and 0 assists and 0 everything else except 4 fouls. Dusell usually contributes in multiple ways but he just kept getting fouls last night.

When 3 of our best 4 or 5 players have games like that we won’t win many games.

Wenzel and Oden both played well, they did what was needed from their parts. We just needed a couple of the regulars to have mediocre games and not horrible games.
Overall Ike did play well just needs to cut those turnovers down if he isn’t getting assists.

It happens. We just have to bounce back.
