Malcolm Floyd

Chargers must think pretty highly of him. They've set his restricted free agency tender at a 1st and 3rd round pick.

It's because he's deceptively fast, has awesome size, and can catch the ball and come down with it even when it's a given that he'll be creamed. Why do you think Philip Rivers has the second best career QB rating of ALL time in the NFL? It's because of underrated receivers like Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd, as well as more known ones like Gates. Then again, Jackson isn't really underrated anymore. Floyd is, though.

San Diego is having a really odd offseason. They cut LT, a likely HOF running back, they trade Cromartie, they tried to get rid of Sporoles, and tender Floyd.. not sure what their strategy is, but I'm sure Norv Turner's to blame.

Anyways, good for Malcolm Floyd, good to see a Wyoming receiver getting top dollar in the NFL market.

I'm not sure why you think it's odd. All those moves make sense. The reason they let Sproles try out Free Agency was that they couldn't justify spending over $7 Million on him. This way they can still sign him unless somebody else grossly overpays. Everybody knew LT would be gone, he hasn't been himself as of late, and as much as I hate seeing him go, it did make sense. Cromartie was going to be too expensive, and he got himself into that drunk driving incident, which is something the team will have nothing to do with - which is a reason Merriman will likely be a goner as well.

So... to a Chargers fan like me, there weren't any surprising moves at all so far. I could have told you this would likely have happened two months ago.

Malcolm is a stud and always comes up with the big play downfield i dont remember him doing great things a t wyoming its funny how someone like Jovon can tear it up at college and Malcolm kinda flew under the radar and Malcolm is the one that ends up with the NFL career

You don't remember him doing great things at UW?! You must not have been paying attention, because Floyd and McGuffey were two of the most exciting receivers in school history. When those two graduated our passing attack started to spiral down the drain.

in my defense i was pretty young but the more i think about it i remember a little bit but i guess when i started following UW football closely was Bouknights sophomore year

The Cowboys were stacked at WR when Bouknight was young. Brock Ralph (successful in CFL), Ryan McGuffey (tryout with the Rams and probably the best WR to ever come from WY), Malcolm Floyd (a top NFL WR) and Scottie Vines (played a few years for the lions).

and the slowest WR of them all....Jovon Bouknight...he was never going to be an NFL player with his speed

Actually, his lack of speed wasn't the true issue, his lack of commitment to working out was. I remember watching him in NFL-E on Swedish television, and even THEIR commentators talked about it.
