Louisville Transfer?

Akoy Agau has been allowed to transfer from Louisville. Too many McDonald's All-Americans for him to get much playing time. He may be eligible to play next year if he can get a medical redshirt this year - only 11 minutes played so far.

I wonder if he's on coach Shyatt's radar? He's hails from Omaha, so not too far from home and his size would make him ideal to plug in at the #4 spot after Nance graduates.

I don't think he would be eligible to play next year even if he gets his medical redshirt approved. But I could be wrong, did you read that somewhere else? If he went to another D1 school, he would still have to sit out a year, but he would get this season of eligibility back meaning he would still have 2 years of eligibility.

Negative, it doesn't work that way. The transfer rule doesn't just say you have to sit out a year, it says you have to sit out a year at your NEW school. He could always apply to the NCAA to have it waived and play immediately, but there is no standard exception to sitting out a year for a scenario like this. All a medical hardship does is gives you a 5th season of eligibility, it doesn't wipe out the season where you were injured.

From an article:

Because of his injury, and because he's only played in three games this season, it's possible Agau could receive a medical redshirt this season and be eligible immediately in 2015-16. Otherwise, he would need to sit out the spring semester and the fall semester of next season, and be eligible to play the spring semester of 2015-16.

Alright, that's why I was wondering if you read something elsewhere because usually it doesn't work that way.
