Our only one was in 1957 (when the incident happened, 1959 was when we got the bowl ban for 1 year). The hell happened that year?

Which also brings up this bit
On 21 occasions a bowl ban has kept a current FBS school from winning a conference championship, has prevented them from competing in a conference championship game, or has kept a conference champion out of a bowl game.

Wyoming 1959

Is Wyokie back yet?

Penn State fans bragged about their spotless record. Not one violation....ever. Until this debacle obviously.

Wyoming played Hardin-Simmons in the Sun Bowl the previous season. No clue who that is. Check out that 1959 schedule. Nothing says Senior Day like mid-October.

Same team we beat in the Gator Bowl in 1950. Back then, they were considered to be a really good program. Not national title contenders, but a step down from there.

In other news, Wyoming is one of a handful of NCAA Basketball champs to win the title, but never be put on probation.

I can explain it but I'm too tired tonight to do it tonight.

8 days here then go back to Casper for a high school reunion (Kelly Walsh).

I FOUND IT!!!!!!!

If any of you have a copy of the book "A Million Cheers," look on page 86. That'll explain the answer as to why UW was on probation in 1959.

The cliff notes verison is this and I do quote from the book on page 86.....

Before the New Mexico game, the Cowboys were informed by the NCAA that they would not be allowed to participate in a postseason bowl game because of an infaction: Angelo Mosca, a former Notre Dame player, took a recruiting trip to Laramie in 1957 never returned to his home before enrolling in school.

Also found out that the infraction cost us a shot at the Gator Bowl in 1959 (game being played on the day after New Year's Day, 1960). Had he flew back on a plane ticket worth $100 we woulda gone to another Gator Bowl to play either Arkansas or Georgia Tech (both played each other with Arkansas winning 14-7).

Angela Mosca was also kicked out of UW for stealing and selling what he stole on campus (was also kicked out of Notre Dame for bookmaking). Just read that online. So, we got screwed by a criminal who didn't even stay very long.
