Light at the end of the tunnel?

I liked what I saw.
CJ Jennings looked good at corner. Epps and Wingaard are future stars at safety. Hill and Overstreet are legit. Excited that we have Gentry and Maulhardt for another year. They finally put in some beef at dline (Jacob English &Malaulu). The coaches used some spread formations in the red zone and it yielded results. I am pumped to see the progress.

For next year we need to get a kicker and some DE depth. Prosser and Granderson look like good pass rushers but there is no way they can play every down at their weight. We will be in trouble if we have starters at 200lbs.

CJ Jennings looked very good. I have no clue how McKransky beat him out earlier in the year. Epps covers OK, but run d is not that good imo. Epps and Wingard need 10-15 lbs on them and they will be great. I said this in another thread, but I think Granderson could be a fantastic linebacker with his physicality, length and ability to cover the field, but we are sooo thin at DE. Mayber with Meader back next year and a JuCO Granderson could make the move to LB.

How much did English play? Sometimes I don't pay as much attention to the big boys up front. And Applebee a torn ACL? that's rough

The scary part is that wingaard out-weighs Granderson. I think Prosser switches to LB again. I really lik both but it is crazy to play on the line at those weights.

Except Granderson is more pass rusher than pass coverer (yes I made made that word up). Quickness on the line doesn't mean he'll have quickness in coverage.

Granderson can definitely be multi dimensional, but I hope he stays as a defensive end. I'm hoping Granderson or prosser end up excelling at their new spot. Like jerry Hughes at tcu transitioning from a 2 star hs running back to an all American defensive end and 1st round draft pick. I'm still bummed Kongbo wasn't able to stick around...

Very bummed about Kongbo, too.

I agree. He stays as a pass rusher DE.

If Granderson can put on that "Freshman-45", I really like him as a hybrid OLB/DE. The guy is an athletic freak of nature, just needs to grow into that frame of his.

Granderson is around 205...he has put on weight during the season. Wouldn't be surprised to see him around 225-230 next year.

While still light for a DE, it's not a terrible weight at 230lbs. But right now with all the injuries and really young players, we are just very thing at almost every spot, except RB and FB.
