Leveraging the FB/BB games on 11/22?

Saw someone posted this question on the other board and it went unanswered...

What is the AD doing to leverage the two games (both nationally televised, I believe) on 11/22 to potentially increase attendance for both? Pretty sure it's the grand re-opening of the AA interior - have we seen any hype about it from those in charge? Seems like a golden opportunity to get a good to great showing for both and I want to learn more from those closer to it.

Maybe we can summarize all the actions the AD is taking below...

(By the way, I know this could just as easily be discussed on the BB forum, but I'm a football first kind of guy) :D

Why are they nationally televising the Northern Colorado game? What's so special there?

The Northern Colorado game is not on broadcast or cable TV. It is on ESPN3, the internet access ESPN. There usually is a dozen games on simultaneously on ESPN3. You pick the one you want to watch.

The department is offering a $45 combo ticket for both the Boise FB game and Colorado MBB game. Considering that a home football conference game typically costs $40 on gameday and the Colorado hoops game would probably cost around $30+ if the game stood alone I think this is a great deal. Ringolsby always mentions on the other board that UW @ Colorado MBB tickets cost $50 last year. So I suppose it's a 2 for 1 kind of deal.

I am confused now. Northern Colorado is this Sunday, 11/16, 2pm. Colorado is next Saturday, 11/22, 4pm. Northern Colorado is not televised. Colorado is.

I think highcountry is confused and is thinking that the cu game is the grand reopening of the AA, but the reopening is actually this sunday.

Ok...that makes sense completely. Easy to get the days / times confused.

BTW - can't wait to see the AA this Sunday!

Correct, I was indeed off on the grand opening of the AA.

Happy to learn they are offering a $45 package deal. While my original post had an agenda, that is a decent step in the right direction. Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough, but the athletic department should be marketing the hell out of what I believe is a golden opportunity.
