Level of Worry: Shyatt

I know I know.....don't count your chickens before they hatch. There is a lot of season left, but man Wyoming looks solid on the hardwood. Under the assumption that Wyoming continues this dominant run and ends up in the NCAA Tournament, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being Shyatt has a shock-collar that goes off if he leaves the state, 10 being he's already packed up just waiting to leave, how worried are you that Shyatt might leave for greener pastures?

On a scale of 1 to 10 my worry is 0. He doesn't need to go anywhere else. He has already been a head coach at a big time school with Clemson and he has already won 2 national championships as the top assistant at Florida. He doesn't need the money and he has already coached for 40 years. I think he is pretty content where he is right now at the age of 60. This is his last stop.

Also one other note... Shyatt does not have the letter "c" in it. You must have been looking a Schoyer's name too long lol

He's said multiple times that this is his retirement gig
That will be put to test. Actions speak a lot louder than words. After what happened with Gary Andersen this past month, I believe no coach until I see them decline big money.

I am going to wait till we do something more substantial than reach the CBI before I worry about a coaching departure.

+1 I'll believe it when I see it.

My point is that we should just take him for his word and enjoy it......what point is it to sit around a him haw about it

One reason Shyatt will stick around and be successful is so that he can see his son take over when he resigns.

Ding ding ding!!!!

The reason Shyatt is here is because he has one foot out the door and it's an opportunity to set his son up nicely for his first head coaching job. The real question is how long until the little Shy leaves.

I think Duncan will take over first then when he retires it will be little Shy's gig. If I remember right Duncan's about 5 years younger than Papa Shy

Absolutely a big fat 0 for me. The only school he was going to leave Wyoming for was Clemson, I just think it came faster than he expected. I don't think he would do the school and the state of Wyoming like that again. He's here until he feels he can't take the Pokes and make them any better--he's not going anywhere.

he built a beautiful new home in Laramie and I take this man at his word, he knows how important it is to fulfill his destiny here, other programs can offer all they want, Larry is NOT going to leave Laramie, he is in it for the long haul, for a change we have a coach that we can believe in and rally around, Good things on the horizon in Laramie for a change. I was hesitant when we rehired him, but I believe him and totally thankful Papa Shyatt is here. GO POKES

On a scale of 1-10, I agree that it is 0. I am a little curious how many years he is thinking he wants to coach until he retires. Sons # 2 & 3 are down in Nashville, I believe.

I am also a little curious what Coach Duncan is thinking about for his next 5-10 years. Does he want his own team?

Enjoy the run. I do believe Coach Shyatt really respects the Wyoming program in a way that some others have not. Think about the atmosphere that is Coach Shyatt's point of reference for what Wyoming is when it is in a healthy state. That is tough to beat.

Shyatt is like Roach was. Was here for a time at one point, but returned to do what he can to bring Wyoming and eventually retire.
