Let’s go Jovon!

This is a great opportunity for a former Poke to show what he can do as the OC! First thing I hope for, just solidify a rotation that helps the players get into a rhythm. Those making plays stay in the game. It isn’t little league where everyone gets a snap. A little stability and consistency will help Anderson with timing and reads (hopefully). I hope we roll and make the sheep cry their way back home. Best case scenario is the offense starts to score and compliments an already solid defense! A lot of season left to enjoy if this works out! Go Pokes!

Can Jovon play quarterback?
How about some optimism? He did play QB in high school, and was one of the best receivers all time at Wyoming. And he did a hell of a job at Utah State and Oregon as a passing coordinator. This is a chance for a former player to actually show what he can do at a high level as a coach. Wouldn’t we want him to be successful? Wouldn’t we want someone like him to maybe be in a position some day to be a head coach? Especially for us? Having a negative mindset, basically hoping for failure is ridiculous. I’ve said it before, the best case scenario is that Coach Sawvel is successful, his staff is successful, and we become a school that the P4 comes calling to. I give Sawvel credit here. He pulled the trigger and it needed to be done. That isn’t easy. Yes his mannerisms on the sideline are awkward, and his press conferences are a little too blunt (I do think he’s gotten better, but public speaking still isn’t a comfort zone for him), but give credit where credit is due. A season ago, Arizona State fans were saying similar things about Dillingham. Look where that guy is now. That’s what I’m hoping for. Turn this ship around and let’s go!

Before you get your panties in a twist, I was referring to no starting FBS quarterbacks are currently on the team. If they are, we have not seen them. It doesn’t really matter who the OC is if there is not a reliable quarterback to implement the offense. Of course I want JB to be successful. I just fear it’s too steep of hill to climb.
