Legislature/budget/athletics update....

I read last night that the joint appropriations committee recommended all of the money that the University of Wyoming requested from the legislature. So far, it's passing through the house of reps as we speak. That includes 20 million for the High Altitude Training Center. It also includes an appropriation of "no more than" 1 million a year for both years of this session to be matched for athletics budget increases. It looks like we'll have the money to add full cost of attendance to the athletics budget.

I don't know how much the increased basketball attendance/AA reseat is going to add to the budget, but it looks like we'll be increasing it by a significant amount. It isn't much, but it's the first step. We need to keep increasing it.

Of course, none of it's final until it passes the senate. The governor is going to sign it into law when he gets it, because he wants to see a winner in Laramie.

It looks like it's going to pass. Now, if we can just keep the positive increases to basketball attendance and improve the product on the football field, we might be looking as some real progress on the athletics budget front.

The only question for me is the AA club area. I've read speculation that they might skip that part of the project although it would be nice if we could add it without further decreasing seating capacity. We need all the revenue streams we can get.

also just heard there was a Rep from Baggs that wanted to submit a bill taking us down to FCS level, when it tried going thru there was lots of opposition and guess he retracted it and walked back to his desk with his tail between his legs.
Just cuz you don't like funding our Wyoming Cowboys doesn't mean all others don't, go back to Mayberry (Baggs) Idiot

This guy is a POS. Wasn't even talking FCS, was talking D2.

While Baggs might not be Wyoming's signature town, the mountains and surrounding area is some of my favorite in the entire state. Beautiful area with not many people at all. It's a great place to find solitude

i know, those mountains are great, hence CJ Box wrote a Joe Pickett novel from that area, it's a unique place for sure to say the least
