Legerski Retires

Looks like Joe Legerski has retired as head coach of the cowgirls. Took them to some pretty decent seasons and made them consistently good, postseason flameouts not withstanding. Those who wondered if he had taken the program as high as he could and wondered if someone else could take them hire are going to get to find out!

I agree, don't think we will ever truly be a factor but every few years. Joe is a wonderful person met him many times and the program will truly miss his imprint, Good luck in your Future Joe, thanx for all ur hard work

A cowboy great for sure, should be a lock for the UW hall of fame. Not many moments in Wyoming sports better than the WNIT title in my lifetime.

I've always been a fan of Joe, and will miss him. His teams were always well coached, and were great ambassadors for the University. Enjoy your retirement, Joe, you earned it.

I didn't really follow the league this year, why was CSU so bad? Because every time I think about Ryun Williams coaching there and having them contending just about every year and not at UW it pisses me off.

Good for Joe, he did a lot for UW Women's hoops, especially early on. Those 2006, 7, 8 teams built the program and attendance to what it is today.

Legerski is going to be missed. He did a hell of a job. If anything, he kept fans interested when other revenue sports couldn't hold their own.

If only all of our coaches could achieve what he has......

Betcha its Fallon Lewis

That what? Gets promoted to an assistant coach when G takes over? Surely you don't mean head coach as she hasn't even been an assistant coach at any college level let alone a head coach.

I hope this doesn't turn into a Beth Kowada type of hire. Great coach that is replaced by someone not ready for the spotlight.

The WYO connections / pipeline is in good shape. In fact, there are some former UW assistants out there, as active head coaches right now, that would be perfect a fit back at UW. With the fanbase & facilities, along with built in decent attendance & support, the position is appealing.
