Truth hurts eh?

Have you ever been screened for bi-polar? You go from talking about how Wyoming will be going to BCS bowls to indicating that Wyoming should move to FCS. I can't be the only one that makes no sense of your sunshine pumping to doom and gloom and back and forth.

Generally I like your enthusiam for Wyoming sports but man you gotta find a more objective medium.

Find the last positive thing I've said.

It was during the season.

So...changing my opinion of Wyo football over the course of 6 months is bi-polar?

Where is that Zoloft dispenser........

sunshine pumpers and doom and gloomers unite! :D

Wow and to think during the season Beaverpoke was crushing me for suggesting we move down! What made you change your mind about the situation, Beav?

Starting with the fact that we are an average program, I see no need to drop down. We still have success and bowl games. If we were Eastern Michigan and was continually dropping 0 to 4 wins every year and our attendance was under 10k, then consider it. We compete. We may not always win, but we compete.
There is only one school that I've seen drop down a division and it was multiple divisions, that was New Orleans in basketball, and due to something that affected their entire university (Katrina) it's unterstandable. But they're goal is to move back up eventually. So why would we want to be the first to consider dropping when we have success, and yes still profit?

I think moving down is ridiculous.

What changed my mind about the situation?
Well, to start the season we almost upset a ranked team on the road,
then absolutely destroyed the next 3 teams.

I wasn't the sports writer publishing articles about Wyo in a BCS bowl, but I was pumped to read them!

Then...Texas State happened...We beat NM, which was fun simply because we won.
Then...CSU happened...Fresno happened...Boise happened...Utah State happened...
Brett Smith left...Jason Thompson left...

That's what happened...

From the time we were 3-1 and very close to being 4-0, to losing Brett Smith and Jason Thompson, to signing guys like Aaron Young and having Kirkgaard being our number 1, I have no hope for the team.

I always realized our defense was awful, but if the point of the game is to outscore the other team, and we had Brett Smith out there, we had a chance.

I am glad Bohl is the coach, and there will be a tough style of play, but this isn't basketball, where Bohl can just out coach 95% of the other coaches and get us to post season play right away, like Shyatt did year 1.

Bohl is an upgrade over DC but we still need something like 40 to 50 players who can contribute to get wins.
Shyatt was successful because he is a much smarter coach than almost anyone we play, like Bohl MIGHT be, but Shyatt needed 6 or 7 players to win. Plus, basketball is a game where 1 player can win games for you. (Leonard Washington, or Luke Martinez, or Larry Nance).

Basically, what I am trying to say is, I don't think we have the talent without Brett or Thompson.
We had a fighting chance with Brett or Thompson.
Now, we don't.

It will take a few years I think.

Thanks. It feels weird to not be the the sunshine pumping optimist.
LOL Now that you've said that, they'll finally exceed expectations. In all seriousness, its probably a good thing to be optimistic about the Bohl era in a broad sense, but aware that this process will take time. Seasons like 2010, 2012, 2013 suck as fans....but part of the insult to injury was the fact that expectations were high going into those seasons....especially 2012. We had folks floating the dreaded "U" word around that off-season. Losing is one thing......losing when you've convinced yourself they're supposed to win is hard on the fan experience.

If Bohl wins 6+ games in year #1, I think all Poke fans would be ecstatic about the future....but nobody will freak out if he doesn't and they struggle. This roster needs rebuilding, something that doesn't happen over night.

That story was part of a set that the Cheyenne newspaper is also working on. In all fairness, the most basic thing we should have all learned while at UW is to seek new data and to analyze it critically. We would be ill-informed embarrasments to our alma mater if we insisted on keeping our heads in the proverbial sand.

As long as UW has an enrollment that is smaller than comparable public, land-grant FCS schools it will be appropriate and as long as very few careers within Wyoming require a university degree, it will remain appropriate to reevaluate whether the athletic programs are appropriate for the institution.

This I do not believe. If we don't get 6 games and we struggle, everyone will freak out. Promise.

If you are a realist, you will consider 6-6 next year an incredibly successful season. I expect this record, but if it doesn't happen, thank the QB core.
