lacking playing time may cause a player unhappy

I believe the observation from some of the posters may have some valid concerns. This is from noticing the twitter messages and from the observations from the SD game and the SJ game. We need team unity instead of personal egos..

Disappointing, but what are you going to do?

There is a reason that a guy like Desmar Jackson, as talented as he is, has never been part of a team with an RPI better than 200 in 5 years of college. If someone else wants to follow a similar path, that is their choice.

Seeing those freshman bitch about not playing really piss me off.
Like...they think they are fucking entitled.
They may not be, and it might just be a product of over-reacting to twitter, and if that is the case I will take back everything I am saying.
But from what I am seeing, it's like...do they not realize they have to EARN playing time?
Josh Adams was thrown into the fire last season because of an injury to Grabau and then kept the starting spot because of the Luke Martinez fiasco.
He is the only freshman to really have significant playing time throughout their entire freshman year.
Nance didn't play all that much until the end of his freshman year. That year was all about Leonard, Luke, JD Luster, Paco, and Wadell.

Why would players like Keonta Vernon and Trey Washington just come into a much better team and expect to get playing time?
If you want to play, EARN it don't TWEET it!
Is Keonta even on the team anymore? I haven't seen him on the sidelines at all lately. Trey looks mopey, but maybe he would get playing time if he didn't screw up with awful shots every game.

I know this sounds harsh on the freshman but I get the feeling that because they are such a tight knit group, and UW and Laramie are smaller-ish, they feel like they are all brothers and deserve the time just as much as anyone else.
But Larry Shyatt doesn't play the "we like you so why not" card, he treats it like the business it really is...D1, major college basketball.

Earn your frickin time.

These guys come from places where they were stars and probably played nearly every minute of every game. I understand them being frustrated. They're young and probably pretty immature. Hopefully they'll stick with the program and tough the early years out. Trey Washington needs to learn a lot about the game to understand when to and when not to do certain things. He'll turn into a great player for Wyoming if he buys into what Shyatt is selling. I'm excited about Keonta's physicality. If he works hard in the weight room and works on his jump shot, he could provide a unique match up for opposing teams.

I saw keonta in the pregame huddle

When?

He doesn't go on road games and was not on the sidelines against SDSU.

Yes he was...
He was and is on the sidelines at every game. Sometimes he just sits in the chairs behind the bench where some of the other redshirt guys are sitting so you can't always see him.

Maybe home games but not road games. Unless he earned that privilege back again.

He was not on the sideline for SDSU. He was in the stands I know that for a fact. He came down to the floor after the game. He sat in the lower bowl in a corner. There is some speculation that he doesn't have grades...

With Sobey and Granberry gone next year, this team will need those two guys to step in and contribute solid minutes. Hope they see the bigger picture.

The guys coming in could lessen that impact if they were to leave. Jones, Lieberman would get earlier playing time Vernon and Washington are not getting because of depth. It's unfortunate, they're talented kids both of them, but they're not polished enough and would sit most places they went anyway.

Washington needs to stay at the ready, and if called upon play Pokes style bball, you'll get your time, just hang in there dude!!!

Keonta, announced today by Shyatt, is suspended indefinitely. There was some smoke to this fire!
Very disappointing news. I hope Keonta can pull his head out of his ass and get the ship right. He could be a major player on this team if he can wrap his head around the team mentality that exists in Laramie. There's no room for me-first players on Shyatt's teams.

What is going on with this freshman class? It now appears that 2 of the 3 will wash out in their first year.

I hope he doesn't wash out. The kid has the makings of a star IMO. Hopefully its just grades and he can get things going.
If you read these threads kid pull your head out of where ever it is and right your ship. We want you on this team and want to see you succeed :thumb:
