Lack of tv working to our favor?

I think in some respects the lack of tv is working to our favor. The only two games that have been on tv were texas which we played close for a half and then got blown out, and cu which was are worst game of the season. The last two games our offense has started to click and no one in the conference knows about it other then seeing a 3 point, and 2 point victory. Over on the mwc board, and lobos board, all sorts of lobo fans are predicting anywhere from a 3 to 17 point win, sdsu fans are saying how they still don't worry about the game with us and expect a win.

I think most of the fans of the other teams in the conference expect wyoming to have the same look as last years team and I think that works in our favor with suprising them when we play them. I certainly like seeing their disbeleiving faces when Wyoming jumps up and beats them and they can't understand how it could have possibley happened.

it may work in that aspect but it does not help for recruiting at all players want to be on ESPN and why doesnt the MWC have a contract w/ espn and the MTN the BIG 10 has there own channel and they have ESPN BYU(2) Utah and TCU all have played on ESPN but not because they are for the MWC so why dont we have one

I can't understand how Wyoming doesn't have games on TV w/ at least KTWO. At 1399 can attest, every Montana and MT State game are on TV locally, so people all over MT, and even into Northern WY can catch the games, not even tape delayed.. how UW doesn't have a similar deal is baffling.

Because the CBSCS contract precludes any local programming. When it was signed CSTV, then, wanted to eliminate all local broadcasts, Mostly for BYU and Utah, who had very lucrative local contracts. They did not want to compete with local channels with a new channel mtn, fighting for air time. The MTN never would have made it on Wyoming or Utah cable channels if the local channels could also broadcast the games.

Big Sky does not have a conference TV contract so each school is on their own. Wyo pockets a nice chunk of change from CBSCS and would make considerably less from a local deal. I doubt UM makes hardly anything on their KPAX deal and the broadcast quality is very poor.

MSU game broadcast quality is actually much better than UM;s btw

ESPN at the time wanted an exclusive contract with the MWC. They also wanted to sharply reduce what they had been paying for MWC games. There would be no mtn. They also wanted games on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri with game times their cchoice. ESPN can take a flying leap IMHO. Can you image trying to get to a tuesday night game in LAramie? just say no to ESPN.

look how many Boise games are on weekdays. Bad thing for home attendance.

Preachin' to the choir. I hate watching UM games on TV because the camera people are completely inept, at best. MSU games are very good to watch on TV, UM leaves a lot to be desired. Regardless, it's a shame that a contract with CBS-C is preventing many UW games from ever hitting the tube, especially locally. I think it would be a huge benefit to the state. Exposure would be through the roof.

remember 4 out of 6 home games are on TV and all conference road games are on TV. the MTN is covered by the big Wyoming cable channels so almost everyone in the state will see those games on basic cable. Also More will see it out of stare, where we recruit with the MTN on Direct TV. then they ever would on KTWO as well

I don't think I can get the MTN up here on Bresnan unless I pay quite a bit more for the channel.. and with UW and UM typically playing at the same time, it'd be a waste of cash to get it.. unfortunately.

Yea I bitch to Bresnan all the time. There are over 2,000 Wyoming alumni in Billings and way more LDS and BYU alumni but the idiots won't cross the Wyo line with the MTN even to Billings.

If Wyo keeps improving I will switch to Direct TV. might do it this week anyway to get the mtn

Safe to say they are leaving a lot of money on the table

i complained to them about that when i was living up in billings. hell, go down to peppers, or there is that bar downtown with the big screen - hooligans, i think. Usually a wyo fan following down there. You can't swing a dead cat not hit a UW grad/fan in billings.

Peppers shows the Wyoming games? anywhere else bresnan pisses me off majorly
DirecTV pisses ME off majorly. Couldn't record the Texas game because of the VS contract dispute. They tried blaming it ALL on Comcast for jacking up prices, but then when you read up on the whole thing, it comes out that the main thing making this deal crash is not the price hike (which is about 5 cents/month per customer to still under 30 cents/month (compared to almost $2 for ESPN)), but rather that DirecTV demanded to be allowed to stick Versus in their $11.99 sports package rather than have it available for most viewers, which Comcast can't allow since it means not enough viewers have access to their NHL programming, which would be a contract breach between them and the NHL. (sorry for the run-on sentence).

In short, they're all lying bastards. DirecTV lies more than anybody else, though... "cable keeps increasing your rates, we don't!" Yeah right. I noticed how that turned out on my bills. "We have better picture!" Yeah, as long as there aren't any clouds around... it's been really annoying lately how all programming's been breaking up. And then there's obviously the case above, where they talk about how unfairly Comcast treats them by trying to increase the rate greatly. Yeah - whatever... I'll gladly pay the extra 5 cents per month for Versus rather than being forced to add your $11.99 sports package.

Bresnan removed The MTN? I used to get it when I still lived in Laramie a little over a year ago...

No it is everywhere bresnan is in Wyoming. But some of us in Billings tried to get it added up here and they won't listen. They won't cross the state line with it.

Well from the fans perspective they haven't seen us and can predict wins all they want . The coaches of the teams we are playing have film of every single one of our games . Doesn't really matter what any fans think anyways . You are right though as far as the fans go it is a nice surprise to see them wondering what happened because they think we are last years team . Wyoming should win this game by 17-21 points . New Mexico is terrible and Weber St. is better than the Lobos this year.
The only reason the Lobos were even in last weeks game with Tech at halftime was because Tech had a little bit of a hangover from coming off of two emotional games the two prior weeks but in the 2nd half they woke up a bit and took care of UNM . Wyoming won't lose at home to this years Lobos . New Mexico of this year is last years Washington St.
Wyoming 38- N. Mexico 17

So with all the contract talk, I still don't understand why KTWO can't televise the 4 games that are not covered at all ???, expecially the 2 home games (Weber State & UNLV)???

I can live with the lack of tv coverage, but no webcast for Wyoming athletics? That's just inexcusable. AM coverage is pretty good throughout most of the state, but some of us live in areas where reception is terrible.
