Kirkegaard: Cowboys can count on me [Gagliardi]

I've claimed on multiple occasions that Wyoming is a "one man football team".

Smith is a Top 15 in college football. Wyoming is capable of 7-9 wins under him annually, maybe more with the conference getting weaker. But without him, there are a lot of people not just including me that believe Wyoming is a full-blown doormat without him. 3-win team.

That will be put to test this weekend. Cal Poly is a middle-of-the-road Big Sky school. Their not Montana or Eastern Washington, but not Northern Colorado either. Wyoming should beat them by at least 21 points if this is a "good TEAM". If not, it will really say a lot about Wyoming.

Gut-check time. Prove me wrong Cowboys.

I can tell you that if Smith doesn't play against Idaho and our defense keeps playing the way it has been that Idaho has a good shot to beat us. Idaho got their starting QB (Dominique Blackman) back last week against Bowling Green and I watched that game and he is very good. He can run and throws very accurately. They moved the ball up and down the field on Bowling Green just had a couple of bad breaks or they could have won. Blackman finished the game 30-37 for 352 yds passing 1 TD 1 int. Plus it's a road game in the Kibbie Dome.

If our defense doesn't get better (Blackman) will shred them. So that means Wyoming will have to outscore Idaho and if Brett isn't playing I'm not so sure that will happen. If Kirk is starting I hope he is up to the challenge because we will need him to be next week for sure if not this week.

Check out espn's bottom 10 and then tell me with a strait face that Idaho is going to beat us :)

I'm not saying Idaho will beat Wyoming. What I am saying is if the defense doesn't start playing better then you better get ready for a barnburner in the Kibbie Dome because Idaho's QB can sling the ball around. I have no doubt we can score on them if Brett is playing but if he doesn't will Kirk be up to the challenge? That is my question. I sure hope he is.

Brett is listed as Doubtful Against Cal Poly so I have to think he will be listed as questionable or probable for Idaho I wouldn't be surprised to see him take 2 weeks off.

I have been told Thompson is the best QB on the team but has just taken longer to learn the offense. Arm is much stronger. Plus from a dept standpoint it would be tough to give him the start over Brett from the marketing point of view.

Who in the world has said that thompson is a better qb than brett smith???

haha, I will never believe that.

Ya I don't expect him to play in either of these games but I also think that we have the athletes at reciever we should still woop up on these two teams with or without brett.
