K-State fires coach

Kansas State has announced their coach will not be back next year. Seems there have been quite a few schools that have pulled the trigger on coaches before the end of the year. Kind of unusual. Is this a new trend? Also, I saw that Gary Patterson's name is coming up as a potential replacement. If you're Gary Patterson, do you leave TCU for Manhattan Kansas? I'm not sure I would

He is coaching a team that is top ten (or darn close to it) and he is getting paid pretty well at TCU. I doubt he would move, but he is an alumni of K St. so who knows.

Oh, I didn't realize he was an alum of K-State. So there could be some intangibles. But I still think he'd be better off to stay at TCU. If he wants to move up, I'm sure he is, or soon will be, getting much better offers than Kansas St.

How stupid it was for K-state to give Ron prince a extension and raise after last year. I laughed when I heard that. Prince never fit in there anyway. Better to get rid of him now. Also, what Snyder did at K-state may never be duplicated. He set his program apart with Juco players and a soft non-conference schedule. Programs had never thought of running a system this way (maybe southern miss) but K-state sure had a great run but their expectations may be a little to high.

I agree, I'm sure K State would love to have him and he would be at the top of thier wish list, but if I were Gary Patterson I would realize I have a good thing going and stay put, at least until some Super Top premier school came after me. I don't see anyone leaving a consistent top 25 program to rebuild another unless, it is a premier program that has outstanding tradition, pay, recognition. (A program like TENNESSEE should have a better chance to steal him)

I think Gary is a good coach, so I wouldn't mind him leaving the MWC, I am a Poke fan 1st, MWC fan 2nd, and any BCS busting team fan 3rd. If he left maybe we wouldn't get blown-out 3 out of 4 games against TCU.
