JUCO Classes

DC has stated that he expects to recruit 10-12 JUCOs (assuming he still has a job). With the amount of JUCOs we recruited last year, how is this sustainable? Kansas State can do it, because there are plenty of good JUCOs available in Kansas with an interest in going to Kansas State.

I believe that we absolutely need to recruit JUCOs but 10-12 being way too many. In a few years we may end up with 60 scholarship players again by recruiting this many. I believe that we should recruit 4-5 good JUCOs per year.

Anyone else concerned with the direction of our recruiting? Oh and the count still appears to be 3 commitments at this point in time.

Patch work. He didn't even try to recruit JC's until last year. Now 10 to 12? That is a sign of desperation and trying to get a quick fix.

We do tend to at least beat out higher competition when it comes to juco players, however many of them have been flops with the exception of Finley and Stanton. Corey Mace was a good juco guy, Mazi was decent.

Colby Kirkegaard
Robert Benjamin
Dax Crum

Hopefully we wont be recruiting a JUCO QB (assuming Smith and Thompson stay).

Yes, recruit 12 JC players. BUT, make every one of them an offensive lineman. If just 3 or 4 of those pan out and can protect Brett, he has won. Brett, protected, could probably hit anybody on the money with a pass so don't worry about WR's for now (and yes, Dave is certainly desperate)

Well Randy Welniak and Josh Wallwork were JUCO players. I believe Tiller and Roach both recruited heavy JUCO classes ( I want to say close to 50% of a class) but I can't find specifics on recruiting classes that far backs.

Maybe recruiting JUCO is the way to go. Transfers and JUCOs in Particular were an area of concern brought up by the Sternberg independent report ( UW makes it hard for transfers).
