Today was probably his worst day, but this was the first game that I thought QB play cost us. We weren't going to be MSU or Oregon with anybody under center and Kirkegaard played more than well enough to win in Hawaii. Today however he was awful.

Eric was not even a read, Colby was directed to throw it to the backside RB by the OC or throw it away if he isn't open. That is why he didn't even look at Eric because he wasn't supposed to. Now, had he seen him and thrown it to him it probably would have been all right with the OC.

I agree. Common sense tells me that every receiver running a route is, at some point, a read...otherwise, why run the route?

It's obvious the play was designed to leak out a guy on the backside to throw to, but you're trying to tell me that was the only option on the play... That's a load of shit. There is no way the coaching staff is dumb enough to design such a stupid play. What was Colby supposed to do while the play developed... jerk himself off for a few seconds rather than looking at the guys running routes on that side of the field?

If this is true, then the coaches are dumbing down the offense to an all time low. Seriously, tell the quarterback to look for your primary receiver and if he's covered, then just chuck it out of bounds. If that really is the case, then it speaks volumes to the talent level on the O-line (only a second or two to get the pass away), the receivers (unable to get separation at the line and get open), and the quarterback (no ability to go through his progressions if his first option is covered). Shit, even the peewee football teams have more than one option on a pass play. This isn't conservative, it's pitiful if it is in fact true.
