You guys that think the article was trash are hilarious.
The dude that wrote it scouted for the Bears for 30 years and knows a lot more than most of the people writing the articles.
You guys need to take off your brown and gold glasses and be more realistic. Oh.. how a few months away from the bowl game can make people believe things because of some hype that haven't proved fact yet.
The guy didn't demean Josh at all. He was basically saying Josh has a lot of physical gifts but he is no Andrew luck and I happen to agree with him. If you guys think Josh is on par with Andrew Luck when Luck was a sophomore or junior than I have some ocean front property to sell ya in Arizona. Luck threw 32 td's only 8 int's and threw 70% completion percentage as a sophomore. Did it on a top 10 team also.
Josh didn't do anything close to that.
So don't see how the article is wrong.
Josh needs a lot better decision making skills with his throws and to not throw so many picks.
So yeah the article was a lot more realistic than most of the others I have read where everyone states he might be the number 1 pick.
I hope he can get good enough in the area's he needs to improve to be the number 1 pick but personally I think that both Lamar Jackson and Sam Darnold are better QB's than Josh at this point.
So to me the article is more realistic.
You are all welcome to your opinions but saying the article was trash just because it doesn't anoint Josh the next Joe Montana or John Elway is funny. Most of what the guy said in the article was true.
Don't really see the problem with it.
I've seen no one calling him the next Andrew Luck. The best QB since Luck maybe, but not the next Luck. Not the next Montana or Elway either.
Jackson and Darnold may be better college QBs, but that's why we're talking about who might be the No. 1 pick and not who might be the Heisman winner. Different discussions that have different qualifications.
When he started listed the reasons he is overhyped, he said it's because he's from a small town, went to a JUCO and ended up at Wyoming. Since you don't think the article was insulting, did you think that was a compliment?
If only there was an example of a recent QB who overcame being massively underrecruited and still ended up a top pick. Does the name Carson Wentz ring a bell? You wouldn't happen to know the names of the head coach and offensive coordinator who discovered and recruited him, would you?
Nobody's saying Allen is the perfect QB prospect. It's important to understand that these teams often draft not only on college production, but also on what they view as a prospect's potential. That's where Allen's hype kicks in. Teams look at body type. Check. Arm talent. Check. Mobility. Check. Command in the huddle. Check.
He's been a starter for barely more than one season and he probably would've been a Top 10 pick this year, so I don't know why it's so asinine to think he could be the top guy next year.
