Josh Adams tracker

Never or maybe? Which is it? It can't be both. Perhaps it's been a couple years since I've seen his name that high, but FFS stop arguing meaningless issues. Bottom line is, he is a highly-regarded NBA prospect. And, I will reiterate my original point, since apparently you missed it the first time. Josh can play with anybody.....period....the end.

And he had another superhuman effort tonight.

How many did he have tonight? I missed it and can't seem to find stats anywhere at all

34 points I believe. Not sure on everything else.

Josh has 3 games in a row now with over 30 points and 5 for the season. See how many in a row he can end up with.

His performance would give him MWC Player of the year if we could just win some games but us losing games is going to keep him from the recognition he deserves.

He'll probably get it if he keeps this up. Team success is usually only used as a tiebreaker in these sorts of awards, or if there's a team that was absolutely dominant in the league.

That being said, has he even won player of the week yet this year?

Not this year he hasn't.

He might this week. In 2 games he averaged 35.5 ppg 9 rebounds per game, 3 assists per game , 1 block and 1.5 steals per game. He also averaged 8 turnovers per game.

If he doesn't win it it will be because we lost both games and he had 16 turnovers.

As far as him getting player of the year he might but the MWC usually gives it to a player on the team that wins the regular season title.

This is most definitely false. Only twice in the history of the MWC (since 1999) has the player of the year ever gone to someone who was NOT a regular season champion. Last one was Douglas from UNM back in 2003.

Team success is huge (if not a pre-requisite) with these kinds of awards.

+1

MWC likes to give it to a guy on the regular season championship team. That being said looking back at 2002-03 New Mexico team. They finished 10-18 overall and 4-10 in the MWC for 7th place. Ruben Douglas averaged 28 ppg 6.6 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game.

So Ruben scored more and rebounded more than Josh but Josh gets more assists and blocks. Josh does have the stats to get player of the year though considering where New Mexico ended up that year. If Wyoming can finish maybe a couple of games better than New Mexico did that year then Josh might have a legit shot at it if he keeps up the pace of what he is doing so far.

I had forgot how low that New Mexico team finished when Douglas won it.

mwc awards don't mean shit...

where is Josh going to be drafted...

where is larry nance jr now, and where is derrik marks.

nothing more than a desk ornament for those that don't get a job in basketball after college

Seriously. The last POY winner to have a stable NBA career was Andrew Bogut from 10 years ago. I'd rather Josh end up like Kawhi and Larry as opposed to derrick marks and Jamaal Franklin

Yes the award doesn't mean a thing in terms of what your future will hold, in the same way the Heisman is no indicator of your pro career.

There's also no magical voodoo that will prevent him from both winning the award AND having an NBA career. Would be cool for him to win it, just don't think it'll happen.

Rueben Douglas was one of my favorite Non-pokes in MWC history. He was so much fun to watch when I was in school even though that team was awful. I remember being at the conference tourney that year and at the end of the game to knock NM out. THey started taking out the seniors one by on so they could get an ovation. For every player the NM fans game them a nice standing ovation(they bring a good crowd) but when Rueben was taken out the entire arena stood and gave him a very long ovation. Very cool.

I think we will end up better than NM that year and if Josh keeps at the same pace he has a very good chot at POY. Who else is gonna win it this year? The MW is lacking in stars this year.

The most recent update at Draftexpress has him listed at #48 among seniors. I honestly have no clue how they still have him so low.

He's rising though! I think he's still higher than where Larry was at this point last year, so there's that....

EDIT: Nevermind, Larry was 31st.

What Josh is doing is super impressive because he gets double and triple teamed and teams game plan specifically to stop him each game.

In the final standings or at this time last year? The way I remember it is he was sitting near #90 until about a month before the draft. I like draftexpress, but they base a lot of their rankings on recruiting stars and big name schools. I guess it's probably pretty accurate since NBA scouts seem to do the same thing.
