What happened to the Steamboat in front of the scoreboard? I thought it was pretty cool the players would touch it coming onto the field.

Steamboat is still there. It's just hard to make out in those pix. And it is a great tradition. I hope we never lose it.

Wyoming athletics put up more pictures, not shot from a Blackberry, rather, an actual camera.

I know i"ll be the odd one out, but I like the old colors better.

I agree Lax. I understand why some like the "old" yellow/gold, but I'm a fan of the prairie gold myself. To me it looks more like the natural color of the high plains anyway, but that's just me.

But, I have to say, as long as the team puts the hurt on teams that step on that field, I could really care less what color it is. ;)

GO POKES!

I'm a fan of the brighter yellow/gold color we are currently wearing. This has less to do with liking the way the color actually looks and more to do with the fact that it's staying true to UW's history. I know that the yellow/gold color has changed many times throughout the years, but there is something special about wearing the ORIGINAL colors. I don't know how many of you are familiar with how UW picked it's school colors, but I find the story interesting. It dates all the way back to the very first Alumni Banquet in 1895. The banquet was decorated with Brown-Eyed Susans, a flower I'm sure many of you have seen down in southeastern Wyoming. Apparently, the alumni were impressed with the flowers and decided to make them the original school colors. I provided a link to the story on the UW Athletics website. It includes a picture of Brown-Eyed Susans, and I think you will all agree that what we are wearing now matches the flower a whole lot more than the prarie gold did.

I do agree on the colors as far as the tradition thing goes. But I have shirts that look a whole lot better with the prairie gold rather than the original gold. Hopefully they will still produce wyo gear in the better looking scheme.

One other thing. Is it just me or does our yellow not even look close to the yellow of the flower? Our yellow (gold) seems to be a darker mustard type yellow rather than a bright vibrant yellow of the flower. I know that they didn't have Lowe's color match back in 1895 and went with the best yellow they could get. Not a big deal, I bleed Brown and Gold regardless of the hue Gold we have.

I totally agree and whichever gold/yellow is used with brown, Herbstreit will still call our uni's the worst in college ball in which I have two words for: F U godforbid a small shool has a little history. His nose is stuck so far up the BCS's ass he can smell what they ate for dinner that night.

There are a lot of shades of yellow on brown eyed susans - just google them and you'll see lots of shades in the pictures.
