GREAT WIN,by the Pokes today, Sobey took over. Now, does anyone know the tiebreak or seeding information? I believe If SDSU and UNLV win tonight we believe it or not, slip into the 4 seed? Am I right? If NM wins Boise gets the tiebreaker on us. Worst case I think we are looking at the 6 seed UNM and Nevada win. LETS HOPE for the 4 or 5, I think we have a chance to knock off a team like Boise or Nevada, a win like this also gives the troops some confidence!

Correct.

If San Diego St. and UNLV win Wyoming will get the #4 seed. Wyoming would play Boise St. in the first round.
If San DIego St. and Nevada win then Wyoming gets the #5 seed and Wyoming will play Nevada in the first round.

If New Mexico wins and UNLV wins then Wyoming will get the #5 seed and play Boise St.
If New Mexico wins and Nevada wins then Wyoming gets the #6 seed and plays SJSU on Wednesday.
 
So we go from a secure 3 seed with Nance ( Yes I do believe we could have won out with Nance 13-5) to a 6 seed with an outside chance of a 4 or 5 seed.

Now the question is losing the last 4 of 5, Do we carry the momentum from the win today into the Tournament with better early substitutions? Did it take 4 games for the team to come together to be able to play without Nance or was today just a purely bad shooting day for CSU?

I like to think it took them a few games to get into the realization of what they needed to do in order to win without Nance. That being said we could beat any of the teams we have to play in our first game.

Worst case scenario #6 against #11 with a win we face #3 UNLV ( rather not have that game we struggle against UNLV )

Best case scenario #4/#5 with a win facing UNM or SDSU. ( We played UNM and SDSU hard )

So how do people feel about this? Opinions for teams we face etc.
 
So it looks like we need to pull for San diego st.. They are at home and have the best chance. Unlv is a small underdog at Nevada and I'm not sure if Unlv has any incentive to win tonight? Does Unlv need to win to clinch the 3 seed? If so, I would think they would play pretty hard tonight to get out of the 4-5 game and play the winner of the 6-11 game.

I would assume no one wants us to play in the 6-11 game vs San Jose st. We would get a win but then we have to play a fresh team the next game, probably unlv. I don't see how that would be a good thing.

Yes UNLV has to win tonight to get the 3 seed. If Nevada wins they get the 3 seed. I screwed up. So if Nevada wins and the Aztecs win then Wyoming will play UNLV. UNLV is without two starters tonight though so not sure they can win.

Good luck guys. Anything can happen in the tournament. I think we're two and done, but we'll be pulling for the Pokes. I'm hoping you can slip into the NCAA tournament, or at the very least the NIT. I think if we're lucky, we might get a bid to the CIT. How pathetic is that?

Pokes vs UNLV first game. Upside: Don't have to play Wed. Downside: Playing a team that also doesn't play Wed.
Second downside: Playing a team on their home court. Third downside: Most likely will face SDSU if win.

So of all the possibilities of a first game opponent (given the situation before Saturday''s games) is this the best one?
What's your opinion?
 
I would rather play Nevada. But I prefer this matchup to Boise st. Unlv is very beatable. Any team with hs on the sideline ( I don't mean horseshit - well, maybe I do) has got a major coaching deficiency. I give us a 40 percent chance to win. It is a home game for them but there will be a lot of Poke fans there. Our entire fan section is sold out. I will be there and cheering as loudly as someone with a drink in his hand can.
 
I actually really do like this matchup for the Pokes. UNLV is at home which sucks, but if we are able to grab some boards and hit some shots, (easier said than done) I think we have a really good chance of sneaking this one out. UNLV is such an inconsistent team, if we catch them on a bad day than quite frankly we should win. I also do like the way this bracket shapes out. I am happy we avoid Burton, I feel like he is going to come to PLAY this year and will the Wolfpack to a victory or two. UNLV doesn't have that type of guy. We just really need to come out firing and put the pressure on them.

The key to this tournament is simple. I think our guards have to step up and play near the level of play that they did against CSU. Sobey is a winner, he does not want to go home. Adams needs to continue this upward movement and Grabau has gotta shoot lights out. If this happens and if we can survive on the boards, we can make a run. We could use some upsets along the way as well!

One game at a time, lets take down the rebels!

NCAA tourny was a long shot with Nance, and that was only going to happen by winning the conference tourny. Right now, we'll be lucky to go to any tourny.
