It's a sellout!

Cowboy Joe Club on Facebook just posted that the game vs. Texas on Saturday is now officially a sellout.

glad to see the last 700 tickets go today.

now if everyone will show up and not leave early. there should be some great football!

No matter the outcome, it will be very interesting to see how we do, and how the fans react. Some friends have told me they plan to cook 400lbs of beef while tailgating so they can say they cooked a steer. Good times, I can't wait.

speaking of tailgating.......I am a Texas fan and making my first trip to Laramie. Will be arriving on a bus loaded with fans coming in from Denver. My question is.....We were wanting to look around town and visit a few "watering holes" where are the closest ones to the stadium, and how would a person get to these establishments (if they are some distance from the stadium) if he didn't have a vehicle?

There is supposed to be a pretty large group of Horns at the Library. It's the closest bar to the stadium. I know I'll be there.

The library is closest to the stadium, its on Grand. Some of the more well-known bars are in downtown Laramie, which is a bit further form the stadium, the Buckhorn, Cowboy, Lovejoys, Altitudes are all downtown. They're not really in walking distance of the stadium though, probably 1.5 miles, so you could walk it if you really want, probably takes a good 30 minutes to get back to the stadium. I'd save those for after the game. Pre-game I'd stick with the Library and tailgate park, otherwise it could get hairy getting to the stadium on time.
If you're bussing and leaving right after the game, well thats too bad, it'll be a crazy night in Laramie.

I think Albany County has one of the highest bars per capita ration in the entire US. So yes, we usually end up just going to the bars, but they are a good time. If you wanted to go explore some of the outdoor stuff, mountains etc. I'd do that the day before or after the game, but not on gameday. As a native of Laramie, I can't think of anything else really to do after a football game except to go celebrate or drink our sorrows away. Either way were at the bar.
After the game you could check out the campus, its pretty nice scenery, walk around downtown, theres some nice little shops, maybe go to the Territorial Prison if cheesy old western stuff is your thing. Fishing is nice, but not on gameday. I'm streching right now to come up with other stuff, if I do I'll let you know.

We're getting in on Thursday and leaving Monday, so we're leaving Saturday to drinking and football only.

Is there a good place to watch the evening games?

My favorite bar to watch games is Mulligans, its on south 3rd St. They just redid the place with lots of flat screens and usually some of the better looking women in town. Great place to drink and watch games, it's always a great atmosphere after a Cowboy game.

Mingles is also a decent spot to watch the evening games. It's east of the stadium next to Albertsons on Grand. Good atmosphere there.

Mingles used to have a beer pong table a buddy of mine from HS made.. I remember playing on it last time it was in Laramie. Still there?

I'm bringing my 18 yr old son to the game with me. Any place other than the typical Applebee's-type establishment for us?

If you want one of the gems to eat, if you're feeling for pizza...hit up Grand Ave Pizza. It's on the corner of 3rd and Grand.
