Is the Shyatt contract finalized

What's the big damn rush. Shy stayed here AFTER Florida and OKC. Hes not going anywhere.

I'm guessing it has to do with the recently state approved money for budget items. They want to make sure that money is permanent since the things Shy is negotiating for are yearly expenses.

There's a reason why the football coaching search and the Shy extension are on hold. They don't have the money yet but will when its done.

I say take your time and get it right.

I agree with you Junky, take your time and get it right but also I am just hoping they do in fact "get it right" and don't somehow do anything to upset coach Shyatt. I know Shyatt and Burman are real good friends though so I would think things should work out for the best for the situation.

This is probably very very true. I'm just too scarred from the past and need the good to be wrapped up in fashion that it should be. How deep are our wounds from letting Tiller go? If we held onto Tiller our football program could've had a very different history. How does a guy like Schroyer get a rapid fire extension when he hasn't done shit? Shyatt's comeback story is almost Disney movie quality and we aren't looking to seal this deal in the most rapid way possible? This is our best coach in the major sports since Tiller. We should be circling this deal like a hawk not slothing around in the jungle.

I haven't heard anything. I hope whatever is tying it up is important and the administration is busting balls trying to get it taken care of. I'm guessing its about money for staff and facilities.

We got a good staff here - in a few more years - people watching ESPN will hear 'Wyoming Basketball' and be able to pick up a map and point to Laramie

Get that AA finished and give the coaches the money they need and freedom they need. Unless they completely fall off, they will make the money back.*

* I'm not a financial analysis and I don't play one on TV.

well said and it's truly going to be interesting once the info is released on what the issues really were/are

Found this part interesting

“After sitting down with Coach Shyatt several times since the MW Championship in Las Vegas, it became clear that his focus was his staff and players as part of this extension,” Burman said. “We have worked hard to accommodate his requests, and feel like this is a win – win for both the program and the University of Wyoming. However, during the past four weeks, Coach Shyatt was contacted, interviewed and offered an outstanding opportunity in the NBA with one of the top franchises. He and Pam closely evaluated the opportunity, but after careful analysis, have determined that his heart is with this group of players and coaches and he will continue to build a great basketball program on and off the court.

Had to have been with Billy Donovan and the Thunder.

What does "retention incentives" mean? Jeremy and Alan Edwards got $100,000 retention incentives. Hopefully it guarantees they will be around for a while. Especially Edwards(not that I don't think Jeremy is a good coach, he just has his dad as a reason to stick around while Edwards doesn't)

Cheers to all you that said "no way, not even close, he would never consider it, blah blah blah"...LMAO!

Daaannng. He could be coaching in the NBA. This is a big relief. We dodged a bullet. For the record I was one of the nervous ones.
