Is Boise st. a winnable game?

I think so. Oddsmakers have us as a 24 point dog. Winning this game would put us on the map. Can we get pressure on their qb and protect our own? I think that is the key.

Give ACS time, tackle on defense and this team will be great

I think we can definitely win this game. We'll have to play hard and avoid mistakes but we can win it. Go Cowboys!

Boise state MUST run up the score against the Pokes.

Why?

Because Virginia Tech lost to FCS school James Madison! That means that Virginia Tech, instead of being a premier school to have a win against, appears to maybe be just be another middle-of-the pack team - no big deal beating them. So Boise State must prove they are better than Texas and so make a better spread than Texas had against the Pokes.

? They have to win first. I think the Pokes give them a good fight and have a decent shot at an upset.

I would like our chances better if the roles were reversed.... if DC had 2 weeks to prep for BSU instead of Peterson having 2 weeks to prepare for us. That said, hell yes, every game is winnable for our Pokes, they may need to play mistake free and catch some breaks, but I think every game is winnable.

I'm sure the coaching staff has been scouting and prepping for Boise for quite some time now. Hopefully, it's early enough in the season that a bye week for Boise will not mean very much. That qb of theirs worries me. If we can hit him a few times and get him thinking, maybe he won't be so accurate.

Short answer... No. One thing I noticed from the BSU/VT game was how fast and good the BSU defense is. Everyone knows how potent their offense is, and given how poorly our D performs at times, it's not going to be pretty. I doubt our d-line with our 250lb d-tackles can get any pressure on moore. I really doubt our o-line can handle the BSU d-line (they played really good against VT). I would like to see a competitive game, but I highly doubt it will happen. My apologies if this is very pessimistic, but unfortunately it seems to be pretty well evidenced. :twocents:

Sorry MSUHunter, but I have to disagree...Jame madison's d-line looked even better against VT. So, I'm not seeing an advantage for BSU. Plus, it's home field advantage us as well. If we remember we only lost in the 4th quarter to BSU last time 17-10. On top of that Virginia...Ole Miss ring a bell. We always play better in the WAR during big games.

Kirk Herbstreit gives you guys a chance. I think it is unlikely, but I think if I had to pick one team on Boise State's schedule to undo them, I would pick Wyoming. It seems that the program is committed to giving this game their best shot.

Any game is winnable if you block and tackle. We do neither well... We may have a complicated offense but unless you can do the basics first, it really doesn't matter. We lack size and ability on the talent side as well. I am hopeful CDC will be able to get some of that taken care of after a few years of recruiting. So until we get the recruiting pipeline started, we better just hold on tight and hope for another 6 win season!

*cough* BYU *cough*

I hate to say that we ALWAYS play better at the War is wrong...as much as I hate to say it.

I don't like our odds in this game. Boise St. is a legit team, and as such we shouldn't, at this point, be able to hang with them. The VT loss to JMU killed whatever steam Boise had going for them. If they don't run the score up on us, they lose all credibility as a BCS buster and take 3 steps backwards.

We play tough against non conference foes...BSU few years back, Virginia, even Texas

We haven't hung with an elite team on our schedule since 2006 BSU and we have mostly been blown out by very large margins. Call me skeptical until I see it first. I want to believe we will hang with BSU but we haven't been close to the good teams on our schedule the past several years.

Considering we're playing TCU and have played Texas, this is a statement game for Boise. They will be extremely well prepared, and they'll do their best to put a beating on us. I really hope DC has more than a few cards hidden up his sleeve, and that the defense continues to improve their tackling.

Also, does anybody else want to see what Kankolongo can do?

Boise, unfortunatly, has to RUTS if given the opportunity. Your post is right on...UW needs to come out pissed off, fired up, and agressive as hell. Boise needs to limp into the lockerroom at half wondering WTF just happened.

I'd prefer if they did that after the game.

The most important thing for Wyo to do in this game is " Wrap Up " tackles no more shoulder tackling that is the one thing that truly dominated us against Texas shoulder tackles are not good and we need to get away from them fast.

I bet that will be the key to the game.

I understand why they like to go with the shoulder tackles, but if you don't hit them dead on, it won't do much.
