Injury Report: Brett Smith

When will hear anything about Smiths injury?
So we can all quit speculating and know for sure what's going on?
And Wacha.

When has CDC ever elaborated about injuries? We won't know Smith's status until game time unless something leaks. He played through his injury against UNC, he'll do it against AFA too.

That's a true story, however, with Brett being the high profile player that he is I wouldn't be surprised if something leaks sooner than later.

DC (or any college coach in the country for that matter), can't elaborate on athlete's injuries without direct consent from the player, it's against the law. Most athletic departments (I believe Wyoming included) make it policy to never discuss injuries even with the athlete's permission. Odds are since Smith kept playing it wasn't serious, so we probably won't hear much until later in the week when they have a better idea on if he'll be good to go or not.

IMO, If it wasn't Serious enough to take him out of a game against UNC, Then it shouldn't be serious enough to pull him out of the Air Force game.

I think he will be fine. He played the rest of the game on the hurt ankle, including after half time, and after the 45 minute delay. Meaning that the swelling wasn't all that bad.
I'm sure the only thing he has done today was go to church, and go watch game film, today is probably the day he heals the most.

FIFY

He sprained his ankle, i talked to a trainer he should be okay. Just needs to take care of it through the week. Wacha had to have been concussed he got lit up. I saw him today and he seemed to be kinda out of it. Any word on Norman or Montgomery?

If his ankle was just rolled, a few days at most, he should be fine. Just may need to ice it and may need some ibprofen or something today and maybe tomorrow.

Wacha, that sucks. Best thing for a head injury is to let time take its course, meaning there is a good chance he may not play against Air Force.

He was hurting right after it happened was not putting a lot of weight on it. But after having a few minutes to rest he was back out there and only limped sparingly. I was more worried after the hit he took by the north end zone as he was flying out of bounds, he got up from that and he played on a slightly gimpy ankle but he will be fine next week there is no doubt.

Believe me he'll be doing more than ice and ibuprofen over the net week. He should be spending 30-60 minutes in the training room 2-3 times a day.

You are right on about Wacha. The way concussion protocol is progressing in the NCAA today, it is becoming standard practice for a concussed athlete to be held out a minimum of 7 days regardless of if they are feeling 100%. That may not be the case at UW, but in the next few years don't be surprised if its an NCAA mandate.

I think Brett is fine he was out dancing on Sat night. Montgomery and Norman both have shoulder injuries. Dom has a wrist injury but will be fine to play I think.

I meant the ice and ibprofen for tomorrow at the latest, as rolled ankles can take up to a few days to stop hurting. But sounds like he'll be fine, so I'm glad about that.

I thought the best thing for a concussion was to lock the injured person in a dark closet.

It is....according to good OL Coach Leech. That must be how they do it in Cody, at least when he was in high school. Lol

Apparently there's a book out (http://www.amazon.com/The-System-Scandal-Big-Time-Football/dp/0385536615" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) that gives pretty good detail of the Leach/James story. Basically, James is a huge fucking douche.

he's a tough motor scooter, Brett, he'll be fine.....AFA isn't really all that good this year, but the last years Howdy Doody thing will cause it to be more of an issue than normal....but we should beat them, on Wacha, love this kid and man when he hit that dude it was right in front of us, and whack, and our tough guy was done, he'll probably not play this weekend which is too bad but man what a hit. Get well to both and all others
