Injuries?

From Gags:

"Injury report

Christensen said junior cornerback Tyran Finley is questionable after being injured late against Nebraska. Finley or true freshman quarterback Tim Hayes are listed as the starter on this week’s depth chart.

Christensen said he does not expect any players hurt during the Nebraska game to miss Saturday’s game.

Christensen will have another injury update Friday."

See I am not crazy.....MRI today. I will let you know as soon as I hear the results. (probably quicker than listening for the press release) :-)

If Finley has to sit out this weekend against Idaho, or even through next weekend against Northern Colorado, I don't think it will be too big of a deal.
Rest him up, get the freshman some time against Idaho and NC, and hopefully Finley could be 100% against AFA.

Hopefully it is not a tear and he can play in a week or two. If it is torn that will be a tough break for the JC transfer. Hindricks, JC transfer last year, did the same thing he is just now starting to get back to normal.

Haven't heard how the MRI went but he is still on crutches at practice......

I read that today...guess it will be announced Friday. I watched the replay of when he got hurt last night, and it appeared to me the play was over, and the WR (#18) he was guarding was still going 100% while Finley had let up.

That is why it is important to strive for separation on every play. After the whistle players need to "get away" from piles, blocks, tackles what ever. That is why there is action after the whistle a lot of times because players are trying to protect themselves and "get away".

News is a torn meniscus. Surgery soon and a medical redshirt.

Bad news. He was our only PR that had moves & speed, and was quite the DB as well.

That will hurt the team.

It will hurt depth at CB. We have capable punt/kickoff returners. Jalen Clairborn is a very shifty return guy. We'll be fine there.

Watching the team practice PR's - Tyran had "it". That first step, that sudden burst. Not saying Jalen isn't going to be fine there - he just isn't Tyran. Tyran was the closest to "exciting" that I have seen since, well, CLASHER!

Cornerbacks

26 Jabari Holland (5-10, 175, Fr., Denver, Colo.)
24 Zaquoya Parham (5-10, 181, So., Phoenix, Ariz.)
29 Tim Hayes (5-9, 185, Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.)
16 Cortland Fort (6-0, 185, RFr., Fontana, Calif.)
35 Cooper Wise (5-9, 170, Fr., Powell, Wyo.)
33 Thatcher Vap (5-7, 180, RSo., North Platte, Neb.)

CB depth is pretty solid just going to need one of those six guys to step up.

I looked at the depth chart as well - I wouldn't count on 26, 24, 35, or 33 seeing the field, but who knows really. Best bet will be 29 or 16...and backfill from the safety spots from there. We may even, cough, cough, see Huff back at CB in certain situations.

The DB's weren't really tested against Nebraska anyway - so that is telling as well.

Could also see Jones back at CB. Wasn't he #1 on the depth chart before getting hurt during fall camp?
Did he get hurt, or did he just get burned too often? I seem to recall that his man coverage wasn't up to par with the other corners, which is why they moved him to safety.

I am afraid what is going to happen when Wyoming faces a team that slings the ball around. We aren't very good in the secondary. the scout team is able to pick the number 1 defense apart almost on a daily basis.........now we are down one more corner??????
