The Jackrabbits were picked to finish 4th out of 10 teams in the Summit League. The player to watch is a senior guard by the name of Garrett Callahan. This guy can do it all. He is the teams best scorer, assist man, and defender. We will have to make sure to be quick to rotate defensively to this guys side because he can flat out shoot. He is a very good 3 point shooter, but even better at the free throw line. Over the last 14 games last season, he went 50 for 52 at the stripe. Callahan has the ability to go off for 30+ points on any given night. Lets hope it isn't against us.

Another very talented player is a guy named Anthony Cordova. He is a junior forward that has a well rounded game. He is a very smart player that doesn't force shots and rebounds well. Cordova is a consistent threat for a double-double. He is built pretty solidly, but isn't the quickest guy. I think Thiam will present an interesting matchup for Cordova. Thiam should be able to take advantage of his athleticism to beat Cordova off the dribble, but it will be a good test for Thiam to see if he can handle a bulky guy in the post defensively.

South Dakota State is no stranger to playing bigger programs on the road as they often play Big 10 programs before getting into their conference schedule. Recently, they have played very well against bigger programs, so I don't think they will be intimidated by the AA. This should be a game in which we can take advantage of our superior athleticism. I'm hoping we jump out to an early lead because this is not a team you want to let hang around. There is no doubt this is a step up in competition from last week. Should be interesting.

I'm calling for a BIG win too! I hear about sodak st all the time here in sodak. They aren't that good. Pokes will roll. A bar here in rapid city is supposed to have the game. I can't wait to see the bunny alumni crying in their beers. Go Pokes!!

Also I'm calling for a Cowgirl beatdown of du friday also. I projecting both teams win big!

Boy, I hope you guys are right, but I think you may be overlooking South Dakota State a bit. I know the coaches and media only picked them at 4th in their conference, but they are my pick to win the Summit League this year or at least win the conference tourney. If I had to bet, I'd say South Dakota State ends up in the field of 64 (by winning the conference tourney of course). Also, Callahan is the real deal. Another 2-3 inches and this guy would have been recruited by many larger schools.

That being said, I do agree that UW is a far more talented team although we've all seen more talented teams get beat before. Hell, it happens on a weekly basis in college basketball. I'm a bit worried about how this team is going to react if they ever get down 10 points to a team they are supposed to beat. That can be tough for young guys to respond and sometimes they end up forcing things rather than playing solid ball and getting back in the game slowly. I guess we will just have to wait and see how they react in that situation. This team is oozing with talent. Go Pokes!

The only reason one can even think sodak st could make the tourney is the summit league tourney is played in sioux falls. Their girls program will make the tourney, but guys are still a work in progress. Usd is better then the bunnies.

USD - also called Me-too-U for following SDSU into Division One after mocking SDSU for going Division One and saying it was a huge mistake - lost by 40 to Texas Tech tonight. USD is nowhere near SDSU in basketball or football.....not even close. SDSU beat Northen Iowa in football....USD lost by like 50. Not even close.

And I won't speak of your prediction of the SDSU-Wyo matchup. I'll just say....Go Jacks!
