Inexcusable.....

One last thing..... The basketball team without their best player this year isn't going to lose to the worst basketball team in the country. In fact the basketball team would still beat a lot of top 100 schools without JJ playing. Football on the other hand... Well you saw yesterday what happens.

I was huge bb fan back in the 80's and even with McClains teams in the early 2000's. I don't know if it's me or the game but I don't get as excited about bb as I used to. Too many tv timeouts, too many games determined by inconsistent officiating, and a lack of continuity of play due to timeouts, free throws, and even replay reviews. Plus, as we are starting to see with the Pitino firing, the true cost of bb may be a lot higher than we know.

Understand. I love football and basketball both but I am more of a basketball guy. I do think though Wyoming has a lot better chance of competing with the big boys in basketball than they ever will football. You can already see that by the fact you have the P5 and the G5 in football but not in Bball. Everybody gets a chance with the NCAA tournament and you see numerous small schools compete.

Football they give one team a spot in a New Years day game now against what is usually the worst of the best team left that isn't in the other big bowl games that day or the playoff.

Everyone will have a different opinion on it but I would much rather see a top 25 basketball team year in and year out that can have a chance at the end of the year to compete with the big boys than a football team that gets put in a mediocre bowl game most times at best.

If this was 1987-88 the last time Wyoming went to back to back bowl games, last years Wyoming football team and this years Wyoming football team wouldn't have went to a Bowl game either year.Their record wasn't good enough. So how good is our football program really even in what we consider a good year for football at Wyoming.... Just my thought... not that they are worth much more than :twocents:

I've felt the exact same way for a long long time, but I usually don't say anything anymore because every time I do I get railroaded by all the hammerheads who think that in today's college football landscape Wyoming can still compete at a national level, which I wish more than anything was possible, but just seems insurmountable in today's Power 5 landscape.
Every time I've brought up the opinion wishing that the athletic focus would shift more to turning into a basketball power..... "much MUCH easier to do in today's sports climate," everyone starts to scream how the athletic department would fall to pieces and we might as well give up sports altogether than focus on basketball.
I guess Kansas, Duke, Gonzaga, Wichita State, Xavier, Villanova, etc. oughta just give up on athletics altogether as well, because OBVIOUSLY focusing on basketball flushes your program down the toilet. The aforementioned schools never win anything and are without question failures at everything for focusing on basketball.................. :s

Just saw Big Ben run qb power but shovel passed it.
Man, we could kill with that play with josh under Center

I saw multiple plays this week in college football where that play killed it. Those are the wrinkles that Vigen should pick up.

I can't think of a sport I like watching less than basketball... even soccer is better. If Wyoming gives up on its football program, I'd rather it just gave up on sports and wholeheartedly focused on education.

I totally see why he didn't play even if ready to go. If you guys were him you would not have played in that game too. It was a zero benefit situation. There is no real difference in our standings if we win or lose, so we already are going to a bowl game and likely the same bowl game regardless of this outcome. The winner of the conference goes to vegas, the rest are no real different in regards to exposure or likely opponent when all is said and done. I can see Josh weighing that information in his mind and looking ahead at what there is to lose and believing they don't need him to win this game. What there is to lose versus what there was to gain was pretty heavily weighed in favor of not playing and I probably would have done the same. I do think a bowl game is his final chance to show to scouts that he can play well against good competition and I think he plays in that game. His final game as a poke and I'm hoping he plays.

couldn't believe what I was listening to Sat afternoon, but this is NOT right, and I sure hope all the right fixes get addressed end of the season. It'll be interesting to see what bowl we get placed with and whom we play regardless if we continue to play this way we'll get boatraced and collect the check and rebuild for next year, sigh, JOSH will NOT play in the bowl..

Well look at it this way, JA tookz a team that couldnt beat sjsu to 7 wins

Might help his draft status....and explain some of his stats.....
