It looks like Beavers, who looks to be a good pickup, totaled 18 tackles in each of his first two seasons at USC. But only recorded one last year.Over on the UW page they list a total of 12 players who have committed to UW as of 1/9/26.
The last two players are interesting. The first is a young man by the name of Anthony Beavers Jr., a 6-1 LB that says that his last school was USC. I saw where this man started playing back a few years ago, but I could not find him on the present USC roster.
The second was a young man by the name of Jayden Williams who is a 5-9 WR from Las Vegas, NV. It shows that he is a freshman and for some reason I am guessing fell through the cracks, maybe along with Anthony Beavers.
I must say, I am impressed with some of the signees that Sawvel has been able to sign in this period, but there are a few big gaps that are still missing. The ones I like the most are the DE's and the LB's, and it goes without saying that the signing of Tyler Hughes gives us a very different look at the offensive side, and his stats are impressive to say the least. The signing of Maciejczak I feel is a critical piece as well.
Where we need to go from here, first of all, no RB in this group, maybe the NIL money is just too much, but I am expecting UW to sign a RB before the period ends. Secondly, no interior DL, maybe the NIL money is really expensive for them as well, but it would be nice to get two, but one experienced DL from the Transfer Portal is important imo. This is why Samsula's leaving hurt. We need an experienced WR in this group and another OL imo.
It has been an interesting Transfer Portal so far and with teams having to get down to 105 roster sizes it might mean an important piece might fall into our hands before it is all said and done.
Speak-of-the-devil..... After writing this post last night I discovered from a story by Cody that the Pokes had indeed signed a thousand yard back. Markell Holman, a 6-1 205 lb SR back from W. Illinois has signed with Wyoming. I am hoping that Max White is able to get another year from the NCAA, and if he does, the Pokes should be fine at the RB position. Also, by Cody in that article:
"There are now 12 known commits in this cycle. A source familiar with the process told 7220sports.com on Friday that number is actually 15, including an unnamed offensive lineman, a defensive tackle and a safety."
We do not appear to be short on Safety's......
I may eat these words, but this kid looks solid. Watching other lower division QBs do very well in FBS gives me some hope for him. With an OC that knows what a football looks like may help too - I'm not sure JJ did.NEW OC QB recruit from William & Mary
