In-State recruiting thread

Since we know Bohl and company are going to be recruiting in-state to find Wyoming talent, who are some kids that might be getting offered?

I have been out of high school long enough now that I don't know of any of the 4A players.

Any kids from Evanston, Green River, Rock Springs, Casper, Gillette, Cheyenne, Lander or Riverton?

What about some of those tough ass ranch kids from Star Valley?

Here is a list of the 4A All-State players that were juniors last season:

Tevis Bartlett (Cheyenne East) lots of talk about him already as he is getting some interest from Pac12 teams.
Bartless was All-State at QB and DB

LINEBACKERS
Ben Wisdorf (Cheyenne East)
Cooper Mirich (Cheyenne Central)
Josh Harshman (Natrona)

TIGHTEND
Austin Leurs (Natrona)

WIDE-RECEIVER
Tayton Montgomery (Cheyenne Central) *also at DB
Logan Wilson (Natrona) *also at DB and Kicker
Talon Nelson (Gillette)

RUNNING-BACK
Stevann Brown (Natrona)

Defense at Large...
Sophomore Zach Taylor from Gillette

Any of these guys besides Bartlett from East going to contribute at the D1 level?

I know this is an "In-State" thread, but has anyone heard about Montana? I know of one kid in Billings who is becoming a serious D1 recruit. CSU is on to him, and he holds multiple offers. Yet, nothing from Wyoming.

Rivals has the following. It is good to see that Wyoming is looking into these kids. Pisses me off when I see local players and no Steamboat logo in sight.

As for the in-state recruiting thing, I do have some theories. I was interested in playing out of HS and I got zero help from coaches. In order to get to the next level you need coaches building up the marketing hoopla that comes with it. Brett Smith's dad and coaches are constantly sending out tweets and pics of Cade during the season. Even in off-season they are marketing the kid. Although this may annoy some, I totally back them in this. There are so many players now that you need to create a stir from realiable sources. Seems like a lot falls on HS coaches to get these players names out there. I am sure Bohl and staff have reached out to every headcoach in Wyoming. At least you would hope so.

I saw Bergman during his sophomore year playing for Natrona County. Even as a Soph this kid was very large and had surprisingly good hand AND footwork for a kid that big at that young of an age. If he had even average development over the last year and a half since I saw him play, he should be a legit DI caliber athlete on his size alone.

Lander is not 4-A. I do not think that either Riverton or Green River play 4-A football any longer. Placed outside of Wyoming are plenty willing to take talented kids with size from 3-A or 2-A, so this does not matter.

I would want to pay attention to the kids coming out of places like Douglas, Buffalo, Cody, Powell, and even Big Horn given recent history. None of those are 4-A schools so they should be the places that Wyoming is always on the inside track for recruiting.

So if we already have the 1a, 2a, and 3a players in our pockets, why waste time on them? How about we recruit the kids that are getting offers from big schools? (Bryan-Florida, Bartlett-Oregon)

That Pete Bergmen is a BIG boy! Never hurts to have big boys on the o-line.

Except if they're fat and slow like the ones recruited by the previous regime. jmo.

I don't think Duval is going to allow any of his guys to be fat and slow, fyi.
