it got me to thinking of how the recruiting class of 2015 will go down in the annals... Remember, it is the first class in which this staff had a full cycle.
Consider this, the class has already produced two All-Americans, albeit freshmen, in Logan and Andrew Wingard.
Two players who aren't as decorated but may have even bigger careers and futures in Josh Allen and Carl Granderson.
Two offensive linemen that have been starters from the get go in Zach Wallace and Kaden Jackson.
Two redshirts who showed their upside and potential this year in CJ Johnson and Youhanna Ghaifan.
Several game starters Antonio Hull and Kevin Prosser are in this class as are significant contributors James Price, Josh Harshman, and Joe Parker (although his PT has decreased this year).
Kellen Overstreet, a Parade All-American, is in this class too (injured and is a RS) and has big upside potential.
Other contributors/redshirts who played this year (mostly on special teams) include Jaylon Watson, Christian Irving, and Davion Freeman. Watson and Irving look to compete for starting LB jobs next year for the departing Wacha and May.
Two walk-ons in this class that have seen action, are significant contributor and architect of the "safety dance", Josiah Hall, and special teams contributor Ben Wisdorf from Cheyenne.
Of course, there were some that either quit or transferred that may or may not have seen game time in Skylar Clinton, Dameko Doddles, Tavita Faaiu, Justice Murphy, Kevin Jackson, and Triston Bailey (walk-on). Harry Momoh never enrolled.
I don't know what is a typical percentage of kids that quit/transfer, but I have to believe our attrition isn't any more or less than anywhere else.
I understand that some of these guys were pressed into duty earlier than normal due to the state of the program when they arrived, but we saw this team win 8 games (so far) and are bowling. Realizing that seniors Gentry, Hollister, Maulhardt, Roullier, Wacha, May, and Appleby and junior Hill were the heart and soul of this team, I think this class has to be graded a solid A with the potential to be an A+ as we watch over the next couple years.
What do ya'll think?
Edit...Milo Hall is in this class too. Redshirted last year and don't think he played much, if at all, this year (would have been only on special teams).
