I'll just say it...

MWC gets 5 in. UNM will be no worse than a 4 seed. UNLV maybe 6 or 7 seed, CSU could go from 8-10, SDSU will be 8-10 and Boise State will make it in as well. They have beaten Creighton, LSU, Wyo (when we were ranked), UNLV and now CSU. I think they will be a low seed, but will be in. ANd out of their eight losses only two were bad, Utah and Nevada.

Wyoming, after the AFA loss today will probably be a lone NIT team and AFA CBI. Or quite possibly no NIT teams and Wyo and AFA both get CBI.

There is no way the Pokes make the NIT.

On paper, the resume may suggest a possible NIT invite, but our current team is not the same one that built the bulk of that resume. Martinez is off the team and Washington has faced nagging injuries throughout the late part of the season. The invite committee will base it's invites based on the current state of each team. Our resume with this current group of players is piss poor and certainly doesn't warrant a NIT invite. In fact, you could argue whether it even warrants a post season invite of any kind.

The Pokes will likely get a CBI invite because of their play in non-conference this season, but I don't see them making any noise. This team, as currently assembled, is a poor basketball team.

You're kidding about the NIT right?

I'm sorry but I don't think we deserve any postseason right now.

Wyoming got beat by AFA twice. AFA would get an NIT invite before Wyoming would. Wyoming at best will get a CBI invite but I'm not so sure that will even happen now. If we get beat by CSU and lose in the first round of the MWC tournament that will put us at 18-13 and losing the bulk of our games down the stretch. MWC tournament game might be the last game we play this year.

I think we get the CBI invite even if we don't win another game this season. Our RPI will remain fairly high due to the strength of the conference, and we do have a couple wins that could be considered "strong wins".

Personally, I don't believe this team is worthy of any postseason play. Frankly, I don't think they deserve it. Reward for the seniors, extra practice time for the young guys, etc...is all overrated in my opinion.

There's not a snowball's chance in hell UW gets an NIT bid. I don't think this team will win again all year. The season just needs to end.

We will probably get a CBI bid as long as we are willing to write the check and Burman likely remains willing to write the check to try to cover up the continued failure of the athletic department under his watch. He can say we have made the postseason in 3 of the last 5 years if we go to the CBI. Of course, we haven't reached .500 in conference play yet under Burman and it appears that we are two years away from another expensive buyout and cutting another check to a search firm.

Maybe it's time to try someone new at AD.

I agree with those who say the Pokes should just swallow hard, put their tails between their legs and quietly slink away.
Forget this year, prepare for next.

The athletic director doesnt go to a bar and kick an unconscious dude in the face.....the AD doesnt rip his helmet off and get in the face of an official and scream at him and get ejected at a crucial time in the game (and possibly a crucial time in the season).....the AD doesnt chase down an opposing coach and berate him on camera....I am in no way defending Burman but a lot of things have happened over the last 7 months that have affected our on field/court performance but have had absolutely NOTHING to do with the athletic director....just saying

The AD hires the coaches!

I thought you were going to say that that was a really bad loss!

The HC made the DFW news for beating the 5 second rule for picking up his gum and chewing it again after it dropped out of his mouth while coaching the game against NM.

So not only are we okay with a Wyoming team giving up and quitting, we are actually encouraging it? Really?

What is to be gained by a first round loss in the CBI? This season has been circling the drain for a month. May as well just let it go down the pipe.

You missed about 100 things that have either not hit the media, or have been forgotten by the fanbase, over the course of Burman's tenure. Things like the laptop-fight mess, Shakir (etal) situation, New years eve situation, player attrition issues, Rebholz Taco Johns debacle, and many, many more.

Which to me, appears to be a lack of instituational control. That, is squarely and only on the shoulders of the AD.

To invoke Jimmy V: "Don't give up. Don't ever give up."

No, I don't think most of us are saying anything about "giving up". From my perspective it is more about leadership and not settling for mediocrity. I was sort of ho hm about Burman's being hired but thought we would see what kind of an AD he would be. I pretty much decided when Burman hired his buddy to replace McClain that he wasn't going to be anything special as an AD. I mean, who can get all fired up about bringing in as your head coach someone who, although somewhat successful at his only previous stint as a HC, didn't have a winning record and appears to have realized that he didn't want the task of rebuilding he was facing at Portland St. so decided it would be better to go back to being an assistant.

And what kind of an AD, if he is interested in building the reputation of a program, is going to stand aside and allow us to schedule some of the non D1's we have scheduled in OOC? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we need to be scheduling upper level teams, i.e., Duke, No. Carolina, Wisconsin, etc. (that would be like scheduling immediate losses such as our football scheduling of Texas and Nebraska), but we should be able to get a few mid level teams to come into Laramie (maybe on the two for one basis used in football).

Oh well, it is what it is, and as great Wyoming fans are heard to say, "Wait until next year!"

"We are who we are."

Good attitude buddy.

WSU shouldn't have made the CBI last year and almost won the thing. Thats why.
