To invoke Jimmy V: "Don't give up. Don't ever give up."
No, I don't think most of us are saying anything about "giving up". From my perspective it is more about leadership and not settling for mediocrity. I was sort of ho hm about Burman's being hired but thought we would see what kind of an AD he would be. I pretty much decided when Burman hired his buddy to replace McClain that he wasn't going to be anything special as an AD. I mean, who can get all fired up about bringing in as your head coach someone who, although somewhat successful at his only previous stint as a HC, didn't have a winning record and appears to have realized that he didn't want the task of rebuilding he was facing at Portland St. so decided it would be better to go back to being an assistant.
And what kind of an AD, if he is interested in building the reputation of a program, is going to stand aside and allow us to schedule some of the non D1's we have scheduled in OOC? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we need to be scheduling upper level teams, i.e., Duke, No. Carolina, Wisconsin, etc. (that would be like scheduling immediate losses such as our football scheduling of Texas and Nebraska), but we should be able to get a few mid level teams to come into Laramie (maybe on the two for one basis used in football).
Oh well, it is what it is, and as great Wyoming fans are heard to say, "Wait until next year!"
