If you were coach...

It’s all relative.

Bohl’s offenses were on the bad side of mediocre. Sawvel’s offense, based on the one game we have to base things off of, is atrocious. That fact doesn’t somehow make the Bohl offenses any better.

My concern is that what makes Sawvel’s offense so inept has nothing to do with scheme, X’s and O’s, or player talent. I think it’s a problem with mentality and motivation. The desire to win that football game was not there. Nobody seemed pissed that they were getting their asses dominated on every single play. They seemed resigned to the fact that this was going to be a blowout and didn’t want to do anything about it. That’s not something that is easy to fix.
Unfortunately, this assessment is spot on. We never saw an effort like that with a Bohl team. Ever. One offseason and we are back to the Christensen era of O-line play and defensive ‘toughness.’ This is an embarrassment. I don’t care if we get our asses kicked if we at least show up and compete and give a damn. This display makes me sick to be a Wyoming fan and the hard working mentality of the state.

Still waiting to see an answer to the Press' questions as to what happened. Does PBJ think he a second Coach Prime that doesn't have to answer the hard questions, or do we have such a feckless press that is afraid to ask WTF happened? Don't give me "Well, it was Labor Day, so there's that." You literally shit the bed this weekend and you need a day off? GTFO! Without accountability, there will never be any improvement (which we have been living with since Burman has yet to be held accountable for anything).

Sticking with Evan deep into the game, and then announcing that we have ultimate faith in QB1, cmon. The O strategy will remain intact and, let’s grab a snack.. great comeback Coach. I’m not sure where this team goes after the shellacking the wanderlust and cobbled together Sun Devils put on us leads. One thing was evident, the level of engagement by Saw during that game was near zero, as others have posted.

Who is this guy that leads our team, I’m not sure. Both sides of the ball were equally useless, Aaron Bohl is as big a question as this new Jay dude. Honestly the game plan was in question from the onset with no Waylee and zone blocking. If we stick with this scheme I fear it’s downhill from where we stand now. No Wyoming toughness is a hard pill to swallow.

UW released a video of his press conference yesterday evening. Mostly coach speak - they are going to use this as a learning experience to get better, we still have a good football team, we had some missed opportunities to break ASU's momentum but didn't make the plays.

A couple things that stood out to me:

1) He talked about how he still believes we are lucky to have Svoboda as our starting QB. He suggested this will become evident to fans at some point down the road, but maybe not in the near future. He said he hopes Evan plays well against Idaho, but didn't seem too sure. He seems to view Evan as long-term project. This does not bode well for this season.

2) He brought up our season opening loss to Illinois on the road a couple years back. Seemed to insinuate it's OK to get your ass kicked on the road by a "big conference" team and still be competitive in the MWC. That performance against ASU was not acceptable under any circumstances. Not because we lost, but because we had a piss poor mentality, were not prepared properly, and didn't show any fight at all.

Sawvel's lack of experience as the head coach is becoming apparent. He is learning on the job how to be a head coach. I am questioning his hiring not because I do not think he might develop in to a good head coach, just that we needed an experienced hand after Bohl who had decades in the role retired. I just hate having to go through the ups and downs of someone learning the job.

Oof. I haven't checked the two deep to see who might've been hurt.
Sounds like DeVonne Harris and Nate Geiger will be out. Isaac White is questionable. Waylee will remain out for at least the next 2 weeks.

On a positive note, McNeely may return this week.

Polasek sure didn't need it. His NDSU squad was robbed by the CU douches...and should have walked out of Boulder with the win.

Unfortunately - Bohl’s teams never quit and never got pushed off the line of scrimmage 3 yards on every play in his WTF games. As you indicate - this is very very different. This isn’t the result of a few bad breaks.
Bohl had disciplined teams. The penalties I don’t understand. What changed from last year. Wyoming ranked low for penalties. What changed.
