If you had to choose on NIL for hoops

Considering limited amount of money, who would you spend NIL on? Naz or Gores? I would say the big man is harder to replace so I'd go as much on Gores as I could knowing that I probably can't keep both

We're only losing Walker, Saxon and Belic to eligibility so we could be pretty good if we got a PG and retained Meyer and Gores. Dennis, Bennet, Rojas, Harakow with a returning Harris is solid foundation.

Agreed. While Naz is the better player right now, and might even be the better player in the long-term, guards are easier to replace than big men.

However, if we want a realistic shot at winning the conference, even in it's new form, we need to be able to keep both Naz and Gores. We also probably need to bring in another guy or two at their level to really compete.

I doubt we have the funds to do that in today's current NIL climate. Maybe Sunny can convince them to stay one more year with the idea that there will be an even bigger payday available to them after another year of development?

We need a true big man. Gores is a great 3 or 4, but we need a banger inside.

Would be a game changer for sure.

It wasn't but just a few years ago that basketball people were proclaiming that the back-to-the basket big man was dead and a thing of the past. Every 6'8+ basketball player wanted to be the next Kevin Durant. Every coach wanted to play small ball. We have a entire generation of basketball players that were never trained to play down low and have no clue how to leverage their body to be a dominant force in the paint.

They are damn hard to find now.

Wow, it seems like everyone BUT Wyoming finds them, and schools like Florida get them droves...little old Wyoming can't even get one, the excuses never stops at UW.

Memories are short around here, I guess. We had Graham Ike. And in Linder's last season, we had Mason Walters, who was an excellent post up player. Finding good big men is never easy. Wyoming has had it's fair share of big guys who have hands of stone and 2 left feet. I'm sure the going rate for good ones is probably out of our budget.

Mason Walters was an “excellent” post up player? I mean, he was alright, but he wouldn’t have even seen the floor for half of the teams in the MWC.

I’m not saying the traditional back-to-the-basket big man doesn’t exist, but I am saying there are less of them now than there were in 1990’s. Do you watch AAU ball much? Those coaches mostly want their big men to be super guards that can take their defender off the dribble and be a threat from behind the three point line. They want to develop the next Jokic or Wemby.
