If you could (realistically) make changes to The War...

What would they be?

From a cosmetic standpoint...we're all aware that there will be improvements made over the next few seasons.

But I'm wondering if there are other 'spruce-up' kinds of ideas that many of us have that can realistically be done to make our gorgeous and comfortable home even better than it is?

One idea I have is that the side of the stadium where Tailgate Park used to be located should be dressed up more, with more Brown & Gold colors, a huge Steamboat logo, things like that that I believe would make that side/entrance to the stadium much more appealing.

I think we badly need a new sound system inside the stadium as the PA seems 'muffled' too often, and a bigger and more up to date video board would not hurt.

I also wonder if WYO officials have ever thought about adding any permanent seating to the stadium in the same way CSU did a few years ago.

Would look forward to additional thought...

Thanks.

Bring back the cannon.
No more stupid Family Guy clips for no apparent reason.
More fans that understand it is okay to stand up on the West side.
More comfortable seats.

Take out the bush league tuff sheds in the south end zone and add a ground level beer garden with inspiration from the new Coors Field roof-top bar. They won't do it though because the administration doesn't want to acknowledge that people drink beer in Wyoming regardless of whether they were to buy it from the University at god-awful margins or from someone else at god-awful margins.

Agree...Beer sales, the pros are in the influx of money and less people will binge drink pre-game since they won't need their buzz to last so long. Cons - sure their might be some drunk and rowdy folks, but that's already present; that's why beer and not liquor. Other cons...ummmm???

The beer garden idea is great...

The REAL cannon - absolutely

Seats? In an effort to raise funds, why would this not be a good idea? I'd have to think that season ticket holders would pay additional $$$ for this luxury, no?

New sound system is a must IMO.

Some of us already do pay additional $$ for the cushioned seats with backs. The problem is the ticketed seats are too close together for two or three big people to sit next to each other - especially when it's cold and everyone is wearing bulky coats. I'm not overweight and fat, I just have wide shoulders and it is a big problem. I would like to have the seating spread out with seats (not bleachers) and the South end zone enclosed enough to make up for the loss of seating due to the spread out seating.
The press box area on the West side needs to be completely redone.
The concession area and rest rooms on the West side bottom are just horrible and need desperately to be updated.
They could put up a sound barrier wall between the cannon and the scoreboard to keep from damaging the scoreboard & big screen from the cannon blasts.
Sell beer in the stadium for the first half at least.
There were several very good ideas for different things that could be done in the South end zone and they could be done even if it is enclosed.

Totally agree. Build a concourse on the south end that could house a beer garden and several other concessions including the infamous funnel cakes stand. You could restrict beer sales to the concourse area and have better control over the drunks who are willing to pay for overpriced beer.

Four words.

Let. The. Band. Play.

They are talented kids that put a ton of work in to their shows and music. And then they have to sit there while the subpar video board and sound system show stupid clips that no one can hear. College football is about the atmosphere, and the band is one of the best ways to create that atmosphere.

Let the band play. I promise no one will regret it.

GO POKES!

Concessions and rest rooms lower west side (particularly womens) need to be upgraded ASAP. Embarrased at the womens restroom, the worst I've seen. They have to stand in a mile long line. Concessions=absurd! And no to Family Guy crap. Although not stadium related I'd like to see the playing field opened up again after the game. Kids really like to go out there and walk amoung the giants. Family likes it as well. What was so wrong about that DC?

I probably have stated this 20 times on this board, but here it goes again:

1. Put in chairback seating in the D, E, DD, EE, FF, 24, 25, 26 sections. This will reduce capacity probably 5,000 or so, depending on the seat width and potential loss of rows. Put a seat premium in place for the chairback seats, similar to the AA reseating plan. Give the veteran (20+ year) season ticket holders an amount of time, to either keep their current seats and donate, or they will be sold as the AA seats were.

2. Simultaneously, build a south end-zone section, that is divided into 4 sections...band, GA seating, luxury boxes, and a partially covered roof top dining / bar / patio - as similar to what Coors Field put in. Make it so that it seats what you lose in seating from the original reconfiguration, plus 3 - 5k, not including the luxury boxes or GA rooftop attendees.

3. Eliminate all under-stadium storage, parking, and the drive through areas. Make it a walking only area, no vehicles or shitty broken down trucks allowed. Renovate the lower west side dungeon areas...including that lame ass banquet type room (that used to be a weight room).

4. Remove all the chain link fencing around the stadium, and replace it with sandstone & iron fencing (like the AA entrance area to the stadium).

im all for the beer at the stadium... if people upstairs can drink in the wildcatter... then why can't the rest of the crowd? segregation case is you ask me.

anything that builds identity. we are the cowboys... at war memorial.

so why not a horse coral, or a Johnson Country War mock up... something that brings history to our stadium... tradition of our state. a victims wall memorial... or a Sacajawea statue riding in a canoe with lewis and clark.

there are two main components to being a cowboy. horses and cattle.

we need more horses and cattle... (not including the wildfire dance team)

maybe we could pile some cow shit behind the visitors bench to get that authentic rancher smell.

If we do seats, especially wider seats then we need to add end zone seating. I'm sick of losing capacity. We're already under 30,000 (29,181) from a stadium that once proudly held 33,500 ( a respectable number). We need to stay at or around 30,000. We used to scoff at USU for having a stadium at 25,000.
I just think of the record crowds we could've had, had we not lost seating. Virginia, Texas, Boise and Nebraska to name a few. Our sellout crowds of 30 and 31,000 could have easily surpassed our current record of 34,745 in 97 with CSU. Those games could've been 35,000+.
I do think it would be nice to have an "area" with seating, where those who prefer to sit the entire game can. I'm sick of people telling me to sit down. I, like most sit during change of possessions and before kickoffs and in between quarters or halves, otherwise we stand.

Actually, the state won't allow it, but carry on.

I think a smaller fairly easy add on would be ribbon board along the bottom of the upper decks. Cosmetically and informatively it would really add to the stadium and really update it.

Why would we expand if we can't fill as it stands? 7k average or something from Oct - December I believe.. The sell-outs you listed above are once a year!

Love this idea.

It would bring a little pizzaz and flash that the stadium has been lacking for awhile. The field is amazing but as for the stadium itself it needs a little flash too.
