if you could bring back one poke

and put him on this years team, who would it be?

at first I thought bringing back Yarborough, Harris, or Devin Moore would be cool, but I don't think that would help this roster too much. Maybe Novacek

but I think this team needs more defensive help... and thats why I would love to see these former pokes on our roster:

1. Al Rich
2. Mitch Donahue
3. Jeff Boyle

the reason I went with al rich... all American run-stopping safety that could light up anybody. he was fast, and an absolute assassin when it came to beating airforce's triple option.

I think the team needs a true run stopping, sure tackling "bandit".

While Al Rich was one of my favorite Pokes to ever watch, I'd go with the immediate need of Patrick Chukwurah.

I know people don't like that he left a year early, but... Derrick Martin. He did alright even in bad match-up situations when we didn't create any pressure with the d-line - something I bet will happen again this season.

Oh, and Dusty Hoffschneider... I just liked him because he was successful despite not having the traditional NT build. Hell of a wrestler, that guy.

Javon Bouknight.
I know we are stacked at WR already but holy shit, with Bouknight out there.....

I know the defense probably needs some help instead of making the offense even more dangerous but with the amount of good defensive players the Pokes have had in the past couple years making it to the NFL, and still having a crappy Wyo defense, I don't know that 1 player would help all that much.

Maybe instead of Bouknight, Demo would be good. Quick back that doesn't need a big hole to run through. Not afraid to get hit like Alvester was.

I don't know though. Bouknight with all the current WRs makes for one of the most lethal passing games in the NCAA, but Demo makes for an all around better offense. He would be able to run and take those little dumpoff passes as Smith is about to get sacked.

Bouknight's one of the weirdest star receivers we've had. He wasn't particularly big. He wasn't a hard worker and even admitted to being lazy (which is probably why he didn't stick in the NFL). He wasn't fast... but he'd catch every ball thrown his way, and he could avoid tackles like nobody's business. I remember one of the first games I went to, he ran along the sideline, straight at the safety, made a freaking FLIP over the safety, and jogged into the endzone. It just blew my mind.

I do feel kind of like you, though. Our passing game is already our strength... I'd rather bring back somebody who made some other part of our game better.

I thought about it and switched my vote. Our success largely depends upon the health of Brett Smith. We need a tremendous tackle to protect him.

I go with Adam Goldberg.

My top ten...couldn't come up with an "order"

1. Ken Fantetti
2. John Fletcher
3. John Sally
4. John Wendling
5. Gayland Thaxton
6. Mitch Donahue
7. Latrail Jones
8. Patrick Chukwurah
9t. David Edeen / Pat Rabold

like i said 1. Mitch Donahue

my top ten
2. Ryan Christopherson...what a stud rb, really haven't had one since
3. Marcus Harris...stud yet again
4. Ryan Yarbourough...stud again
5. Craig Schlichting...stud in the middle run stopper
6. Al Rich...what a safety
7. Derrick Martin...sure miss his lock down on opponents WR's
8. Alvester Alexander...RB that coulda been a record holder with a great O-line
9. Josh Walwork....my fave (besides Brett) at QB
10. Chris Prosinski...what a stud Safety, and being from my hometown, Buffalo, WY, yeah I'm biased..

There are many many others, but this is what I could come up with off the top right now...oh to be a top 25 team in football again, man oh man those were the days....GO POKES...

Gayland Thaxton was a f@#$%^g stud.

If we needed immediate defensive help I would go for John Wendling. He was the captain of a pretty good defense in 2006. He would take on the toughest challenges in coverage or have 20 tackles a game.

In this offense I would take Devin Moore. He would be an absolute game changer.
