If we win tonight

Can we start thinking about the tourney? We've got a healthy rpi right now (~60) and I imagine if we win tonight that will jump a bunch. Maybe NIT?

I'd say so. It might be a Brown N Gold glasses vision but until it gets taken away from us then YES. The team will have to do some things we aren't used to seeing to accomplish this. Like go on the road and get some W's. Looking at the schedule its hard to pencil in W's at UNLV and Fresno for me. If they manage that they could be sitting fat if they've taken care of biz with AF and USU at home. Say UW wins those first 4 games in conference then you get the league's top team Nevada at home and we don't have to go to Nevada this year. That my friend is called the driver's seat.

If this was 2-3 years ago in the MWC I'd say yes. However, it appears like it could be a one-bid league. RPI will drop in conference play, so we'll probably have to win the tourney to get in. I wouldn't rule that out though.

Our RPI jumped 24 spots after that win last night. A win tonight over a #19 rated RPI USC team would vault us up a lot more.

I think a win tonight gives us a slim shot at an at large bid. Slim is the main word in that sentence but at least a shot. As long as USC plays well in their conference. This would be considered a road/neutral win over a top 25 team so that would help a lot more so than winning a game like this at home.

I think we have a good shot in this game if we don't turn the ball over. That is the main thing is keep the turnovers down.

UW needs a win tonight plus only a hundful of losses in conference resulting in a regular season championship with a loss in the tournament championship game to possibly get an at-large bid. The MWC is way down this year which will make it very hard to get an at-large bid.

I see no problem with thinking we have a chance at an at-large bid, as long as we realize the road is incredibly tricky and not a lot of room for mistakes.

As noted above, winning tonight vs USC is needed, as is beating Nevada, along with not losing to ANY "bad loss" teams.

Pokes OOC schedule wasn't bad, but it's not super loaded. Of course, adding USC beefs it up almost as well as one could hope.

Pokes need to win almost all games at home, beat up on the bad teams, and eventually finish top 2 or 3 in the MWC if they want a chance at at at-large. Along with hoping there is a surprise Top25 team in the MWC that could be another win for our resume.
