I'll say it again...going after this guy make absolutely no sense what-so-ever!!! This guys has been the head coach of 157 games and has a whopping 51% winning record. If this doesn't scream mediocre, then I don't know what does....

Sadly, it's a better record than our last three coaches...
No disputing that, but it would hardly be the home run hire necessary to energize fans of Wyoming Football. Even if Clawson could turn around the program, how long would it take and how much patience is left in PokeNation? Look at where Clawson has spent his career. He's an east coast coach that probably doesn't have the contacts to put together a staff capable of recruiting the players necessary for success out here. He's not going to convince kids from Ohio, Illinois, etc into coming out to UW to play football.

Solich is 70! no way... it better not be NIU's coach considering he didn't even build this team. Dave Dorean did, who just finished his first season as the head coach at North Carolina State.. My guess is that it would be bowling green's coach

Clawson is a very very good coach and has turned every program around he has been at. Some of you might want to read up a little more on him.

Don't worry though, I do not think Clawson would come to Laramie as it really doesn't make any sense for him to.
Although I don't want Clawson I disagree that coming to Wyoming would be a worse move for him. The MWC is considered a notch above the MAC. Wyoming is a much better known program. I doubt many of you can even name what state Bowling Green is in.... and if you do you know they are very small potatoes in their own state compared to other programs. Come to Wyoming where you are the ONLY show in the state.

Bowling Green is in Ohio.

Actually I would disagree and say Wyoming is not a much better known program. They used to be a long time ago but not anymore. Nationally most people think the two are about equal for the most part in pecking order when it comes to athletics because of how horrendous our football program has been.

I agree Wyoming is in a better conference most years and Wyoming has a lot better facilities but still see it as a lateral move for Clawson unless Burman doubles his pay or something.

I just did a quick search for Clawson's salary and it says his base is $400,000 a year, not sure what incentives he gets. So Wyoming would pay him a lot more if Burman guaranteed him 1.2 million a year. So in that regard it would be a huge increase for Clawson.

University of Wyoming or Bowling Green. If one was to do a national survey asking people which university was more "recognizable" it would be overwhelmingly Wyoming.

Indeed that would be, I think most wouldn't argue with tripling our salary

and ProudWYOAlum, I believe its all pure speculation

I don't know about that.

People might not know what state Bowling Green is in, or what their mascot is, but when you see "Bowling Green" on the ESPN bottom line, it always sticks out. Why? I don't know. Maybe because their name is weird, has an activity and a color in it.
It doesn't make sense, but it is a known name, for some reason.

Wyoming? What state is that in again?

Well I agree with you on that point. I was coming more from just a pure athletic stand point on where sports fans nationally would rank the two. Most people nationally from a sports perspective don't see much difference in the two. I spend a lot of time on sports gambling forums and that is the perception of how people think about top tier Mac teams and lower end MWC teams.

PokePride, I saw you tweeted that you had some interesting information... Care to share with the group?

Here is what I will say...

I have heard he is not catching any MACtion in Detroit tonight.

I cannot confirm what I have heard and I have been trying all night so I am not willing to spread what right now would still be considered a rumor, sorry!

OKay I saw Coloradopokes post on the MWC board and you could come up with all sorts of scenarios.

He said Burman went to get the next football coach at Wyoming and he is an existing D-1 coach. So basically D-1 is FCS or FBS and it didn't say he was a head coach even. It could be an assistant for all we know. Never saw anything about going to Detroit either unless someone else did.

So if he is an existing D-1 coach then that rules out Tedford. That also rules out Gilmore.

Not sure what else we can conclude from this info.

So, Big 10 guy or a Detroit Lions guy that made the move up at one point or another. If it holds true.

That said, BGSU scored again. 47-20 with 2:44 left in the game. Defense gave up a little over 300 yards and 20 points to a team that scores points and puts up yards. Offense over 500 yards and 47 points while remaining balanced.

Thanks for the info seattlecowboy, FWIW of course. I'm lost. That would eliminate Tedofrd/Gilmore....Stitt is reported to be out.....so its Fritz? What a terrible hire that would be. Awful. I think its someone random ass coach we're not talking about. I'd be glad at this point if it were the BGSU coach. Much better than Fritz.
