Ideas for changes...

Attn Cowboy Fans,

I have been sitting here for a long time reading complaints and bitches on both boards to be truthful. A lot has changed since the "good ole days" for Wyoming sports (football and basketball). We have had numerous changes of coaches, ad's, etc... but things just aren't the same. I know that winning and recruiting are a huge part of it but what else?? Where is the pride of this state?? It showed up briefly for the women's NIT but why isn't it like that all the time. Once again, location is big and the economy... but if you look at how much the avg attendance has dropped since 2000 for basketball, it is really bad.

I was reading the 06-07 media guide about the history of basketball at UW, (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/wyo/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/06-07MediaGuideWyoWay.pdf )and I started to think that maybe alot of people could and should read it. Not just the fans but players, football and basketball, coaches, ad, president.... all should read and understand what the athletic programs have been through and what they have accomplished.

I know that the university has done a good job in building the facilities of the RAC, etc...but what else does the university and the whole state of Wyoming need to do to get back the pride of our only university?? Once again, I understand winning does a good portion of it but what about the other things? The game day atmosphere, the pep band, the craziness of the student section... what needs to improve and how do we do that. Maybe with some ideas, we could give to Tom and see what could happen??

I think pride starts with the team itself. When you watch Adam Waddell, he may not be a polished player at this point (red-shirt Freshman), but he shows his pride in Wyoming when he is on the floor by giving it everything he has. By the time he is a Junior or Senior, he will be bringing the crowd to their feet and maybe this pride will rub off on the other players and fans -I'm thinking this is already happening. Both Cowboy teams have been in the crapper the last few years and the fans were getting really tired of the same-ol, same-ol going on every game. I agree the AD needs to bring in more excitement on game days - no excuse for the pep band not to be at every home game and no excuse for the students not to show up.
