Idaho @ Wyoming - GTS

I'm going to go with 44-17. I think the offense will be going on all cylinders but our second string on defense has it's struggles and gives up some scores. I do think this team will be fun to watch and believe we have a great chance to do something special this year.

I was over on the vandals board, and I noticed that DC POKE believes its going to be a close game. WTF?

A year ago, we won in overtime. It's not THAT big of a stretch for it to go down to the wire again. All it takes is a few of the wrong players not being focused enough or trying to do too much because they know they're playing a "lesser" team.

I'm sure Nebraska fans who thought Wyoming had a chance to keep the game close were ridiculed on their board as well. If outcome was a given, we wouldn't need to bother playing the games.
Which is why I'm holding off on predicting anything until after the game. If I can see consistency on both sides of the ball from the Nebraska game (physicality of the defense combined with the strong performance of the offense) then I'll feel more comfortable about making a prediction.

Come on, it's just a predishun!

This, exactly

Its one thing to look past a team and another to go in over confident, I don't think Wyoming will do either. They know how the game went last year and they don't want a repeat. They are out to show they are for real and I believe they will do just that. You don't just hang around Nebraska and then not go beat a team like Idaho. We have far too many good puzzle pieces to let that happen.

As for CDC letting off the gas I also don't see that happening. He knows he has something with this team and he is out to prove as much as the players. He wants people to view us as a powerful team and only blowouts and whippings will prove that. We need to torch teams, and we need to win decisively and never let up. Why should we with the team we have. Make the teams beat us don't leave room for mistakes to come back and haunt us.

This is what I hope for, but I (just like most Cowboys fans) have had plenty of let-downs whenever I was excited about the team.

The past 10 years have all been let-downs with the exception of the 3 bowls seasons. But what follows those 3 seasons have been the big ones that make us all question everything. 2004-2005; We started off strong (4-1 in the first 5) and faded (0-6 in the final 6). 2009-2010; Bigger let-down. How do you go from a bowl team knowing how to win to literally getting your butt kicked week in and week out. 2011-2012; Biggest letdown. Hang with teams and hang with teams only to lose in the closing minutes. We experienced it they year before why should it have been any different. I feel that after the previous 2 years with every member of the team that was around during those seasons I truly believe that they have it figured out. I threw my brown and gold goggles away years ago however, but am still a season ticket holder and will be till the day I die. I just think we are due for another conference championship run like in the 1987, and 1988 seasons. Were due.

Well, defense more than did there job. Offense had some serious 1st quarter issues that need to be adressed. Come out like that against say, Fresno or USU, we'd be down 3 scores.

Lotta people were close, nobody was right.

I was right. With the "foot off the gas statement" at least!

So putting in backups when the game is well in hand to prevent injury and gain experience is DC letting his foot off the gas?

Yes, isn't that the definition of letting the foot off the gas. I don't think anyone would argue that we should not have put the backups in. I am also glad that we are not burning Thompson's redshirt for garbage time.

You tell me. Oregon, Clemson, A&M, LSU, Nebraska, Baylor (who all scored more than 50 points)...and those are just the top 25 teams.

Conservative play calling would certainly be taking your foot off the gas, regardless what names are on the backs of the jerseys.
