I was under the impression there was a major announcement?

Either I didn't "get it" - or it wasn't an announcement at all - just a thank you to the major donors of the AA. Anyone?

Hats off to the donors, certainly, but the announcement sure didn't meet my expectations. And to be quite honest, it could have been done a lot better that it was. I am wondering if Rawlins High School has taken over UW marketing & promotion.

I read a comment where as a great deal of Wyoming industry is natural resource based, that an oil field service company such as Halliburton might have been the successful contributor to the AA renovation fund and subsequently had the court renamed ‘Halliburton Court at the Kenny Sailors Arena’. That would have only lead, probably, to many other criticisms of that company by some liberal persons that might be also Wyo supporters and Cowboy fans.

If that were to have happened, us folks who reside in the Rocky Mtn West, those of us that appreciate and have owed our livelihood to the sensible explotation of the abundance of the West’s natural resources (mine it, drill it, plow it, fish it, hunt it) could only stand proud because we would then have become alumni and/or supporters of Frac U!! Tee shirts anyone?

If the truth were to be known, many of the donated dollars to the University probably come from those Frac’ers. Bless them all.

Thank you Maury Brown.

Everyone was expecting a corporate sponsor to be named for the building, but they didn't say anything about that. They thanked the major donors, said construction would start as soon as the season is over, and announced the focal point of the main entrance will be a 20' statue depicting Mr. Sailors and his jump shot.

I too thought the halftime announcement was mishandled and very unclear. I think the "event" was that we got over the hump, that we managed to accrue enough donations to complete all phases of the planned renovation. They could've done a much better job of making this "event" clear and showing off the new plans on the videoboard (although they did this somewhat).

As to being thankful for all the benefits of the energy industry in wyoming, my god, I think every wyoming citizen is well aware of what energy means to the state. Tired though of reading politically tainted posts on sport message boards. I go to much better informed and articulated sources when I want my dose of political information. I am liberal about some stuff, conservative about some stuff, libertarian about some stuff, and on some other stuff I don't think either label applies. But I suspect most of you on this board don't give a shit about my political opinions. Maybe not even about my very rare sport opinion--but at least that is what you expect from me on this board. I go to Wyonation, usually as a someone reading others posts, and enjoy doing so, but for sports only. Please keep it that way.

Would be nice if posters could hold their political anxieties in check. Politics are the best way to take the fun out of following UW sports.

Political and all non-sports related conversations need to be on the Hole in the Wall Forum.
