I was at Moody last night

I was able to attend last nights game at SMU as well as the game at SMU a couple years ago. The SMU team two years ago was noticeably better than last nights team. We should be highly disappointed in not winning that game. And Im sure the team has to feel they lost to an inferior team. Sellout?? Technically I dont know but Moody was probably 65% full. Empty seats everywhere and the upper sections were maybe 25% occupied. Nance and a couple others just didnt have great shooting games. I was impressed with the defensive intensity, most notably charles hankerson. Derek cooke had some monster dunks and rebounds. Tony Romo was at the game and there were a mix of boos and cheers when they showed him. The crowd chanted "yellow sweater" in regards to shyatts fairly ugly sweater. Overall a decent performance until the late game scoring drought. Hopefully nance and adams and others learn from this game and we get back to closing teams out. :twocents:

Sorry but i totally disagree with you. SMU's team two years ago was nowhere as good as this years team. Nic Moore is ten times better than anyone they had on their team two years ago. Nic Moore will be a first round NBA pick. SMU didn't have anyone close to a first rounder two years ago. The guy Cannen Cunningham who started for them at center two years ago comes off the bench now as well. Inferior opponent? Funny. You are all welcome to your opinions of course.

SMU has played a far superior schedule to Wyoming. SMU's losses include a road loss to top ten Gonzaga, Top twenty Arkansas and a close loss on the road to Indiana. Indiana's only loss this year is by 2 to E. Washington. SMU beat E. Washington and that is E. Washington's only loss on the year and every other team E. Washington has played they have destroyed so they are very good this year.

SMU also just beat Monmouth on Sunday by 12. The same Monmouth team that lost on the road at #16 ranked W. Virginia by only 10 and also only lost on the road at #21 ranked Maryland by 5. So SMU beat them by more than both of those teams. Don't usually like using score comparisons as things depend on match ups but in this case I have to I guess.

So SMU is far better than a lot of you guys are giving them credit for. Could Wyoming have won the game? Yeah they could have they did have chances but were out coached and out played the last 9 minutes of the game. Sometimes that is the way the ball rolls in games. Especially in road games against other quality competition.

You guys are all welcome to your opinions of course but I think some of you who are complaining might want to take a closer look at the competition besides their record. Anyways okcwyocowboy I know we all want the same thing and that is the Cowboys to win so I respect your opinion but have to totally disagree with it.

I agree with Seattle. This team SMU team is good and I bet they will get into the tourney. We just need to learn from this game and grow from it; Larry and Charles especially. It's better to encounter this kind of adversity now than in conference. Go Poke!!! All is not lost.

I had to listen in bits and pieces instead of watching last night, but I was struck by the nature of the turnovers down the stretch. They sounded like they were the type that comes from a loss of concentration and focus (stepping on the end-line, passes going through hands, etc.) Were they unforced turnovers or where they forced?

Pokes had a lot of turnovers and WTF moments like Adams and Nance throwing the ball out of bands and DC trying to take a guy off the dribble and losing the ball. But the fact is even though we were in a rut SMU kept us from getting out of a rut. They kept Nance from getting the ball. They made him ineffective last night.
As much as you want to say wyo played bad, you have to say smu played good.
They kept us from us running our offense. Plain and simple.

i was there too and i can see why Moody is a tough place to play, but overall yes this SMU team will be really good when they get their player back from suspension....we just forgot to play Bball once we had that 2nd half lead, and Larry just wasn't himself for some reason, not sure if it was due to their guys being so much bigger, but i understand going on the road would be tough, but we became absent for the 1st time in my watching for quite sometime.
Let's see what Cal brings and then we'll really get a feel our Pokes team
It was a fun atmosphere, kinda reminded me of CSU, just a little with how the fans are into it and their students very active in the game...
Glad I went, just wish the outcome woulda been better
