I want Nebraska again.

I know we need to focus on New Mexico, but I can't help but think how different this season is if we play Nebraska now as opposed to early. This team was learning who they were then, and when things turned bad in the 4th quarter the wheels fell off. Three times since then, this team rallied to beat their opponent or take the game to overtime. They've learned to stay together, and believe they can win every game. I'm not sure that was the case against Nebraska.

If we win that game, we're certainly in the top 25, and I think the EMU game probably turns out differently too. Can't replay that game, but I'd love to see them again. Any chance we can get them in a bowl game?

Now, focus on NM. I think we can win, just need to shore up the special teams coverage and make sure the defense stops the short stuff over the middle that's been killing us all season. Here's to a good game in ABQ, and a MWC championship game in Laramie!

GO POKES!

I want UNLV again. Worst effort of the season by the Pokes. If they had notched a W in that one they would already have the Mountain Division sewn up.

True. But that one was on us, not a hangover from an emotional loss. I was there, and the Pokes came out flat and (I believe) were looking ahead to the SDSU game. And UNLV was up for that one. Not sure there's anything that can be done about that. Still, they managed to get it to overtime and had plenty of chances to win both before and after.

Play that game ten times, and I think we win nine of them. Again, can't replay history, but I have to wonder what could have been with a Neb win.

GO POKES!

This is SO huge. All of this would be a lot less stressful for sure. BUT, the cardiac cowboys have made a habit of being overly stressful. I think Saturday will be no different but the Pokes will come out on top and will come home to prepare to host a conference championship. Theres a comment none of us would have uttered 4 months ago...

Yep! +1000

Despite the successes this season, the failures have hopefully all resulted in important lessons for an overall very young team. At Nebraska, Allen completely lost his head, similar to what a young and very talented Bramlet brother did vs TCU at home. Corey never was himself again after his breakdown. Allen rose from the ashes and learned discipline and to temper his risk-taking somewhat.

UNLV hopefully taught the team to NEVER let their guards down. We'll see if it taught our secondary to wrap up in their tackling. Still saw too many broken tackles against Aztecs, but obviously not nearly as many.

At this point in the season, could we beat Nebraska? Yeah, I think we could, especially at home. It would still be one hell of a monumental task, especially given our defensive injuries.

No, there is zero chance we get them or any Big 10 team in a bowl game.

This team has WAY overachieved. The UNLV game was not a "poor effort" at all. The team never gave up and we just happened to end up on the wrong side of the score.

We always want 'more' and the 'what ifs' but this has been the most enjoyable season since 1996, so let's just enjoy the ride...and maybe that ride is another game in Laramie.

I agree. There is no doubt in my mind this team has overachieved all season, and while I'm excited about that I do believe this Wyoming team is a paper tiger; as much as it pains me to say that.

However I will give this coaching staff a lot of credit for what they have done. They have these guys believing they can win every game. This coaching staff comes in with successful game plans and has the team ready to play every week. If we keep this coaching staff together the best is yet to come!

We've beat some pretty good teams to be JUST a paper tiger... So is SDSU, CSU, BSU, USU just bigger paper tigers?

Heading into the season, did anyone on this board honestly think we would have dominated USU like we did? No that win isnt as big this year as it once may have been, but it is a win very few people thought we could achieve.

We've won many close games this year. Goes to show you how they've grown. Few games could have easily gone different but someone went out and made a play

SDSU might be a paper tiger. We aren't.

Wyoming is in first place in the MW, plays in the toughest division in the conference, and we missed the west division turds this year in Fresno and SJSU. If we win the conference we would be deserving champions. Now the MW may be not as great as it used to be but that's a different topic.

Exactly. We played as tough a conference schedule as you can within the MWC. Compare that to the teams we are competing with at the top of the league:

SDSU: Didn't have to play BSU, UNM, or AFA

AFA: Didn't have to play SDSU

UNM: Didn't have to play SDSU

BSU: Didn't have to play SDSU

Obviously that list is kind of redundant, but you get the idea. If we win the Mountain we will have beaten every single team in the MWC with a .500 or better record (UNM, AFA, CSU, BSU, SDSU) besides ourselves.

Now, obviously one can make a strong argument that Boise is the better team based on the overall body of work, but other than that we are clearly more deserving than any other MWC contender. SDSU hasn't beaten a FBS team with a winning record and the other teams have a number of losses.

I think we beat ourselves, too, once or twice.
