I miss the Dome of Doom.

Unless Schroyer at the VERY least get's the Pokes into the 2nd or 3rd round of the NIT, then I think he should be gone and we bring in a competent coach who can bring the Dome of Doom back to life.

He has to be one of the worst coaches for putting fans in the stands, I would rather see 10-12k and get shithoused by a Tennessee team than shithouse a Peru State with 4-5k. IMO

Thats what I used to wish about football until this year. I will make a bet with anyone that the Pokes finish no worse than 4th in MWC this year. All you guys drinking the haterade is getting really annoying especially the whole "I'd rather us go winless than undefeated just so Heath leaves." Shut the Fuck up. I agree that there have been issues and am not a huge supporter of Heath but I think he's had a lot of bad breaks and a lot of players just not work out like Diakite who I read from a credible magazine, before we got him, that he was one of the best NBA prospects in Junior College. He's done a good job at getting young talent in here (Moujeke, Jackson) and BCS transfers (Thiam, Gipson) He got too many of the same player which has been his downfall. Getting the shooters and rebounder's he got this off-season and players staying healthy will be enough to spark a drastic change IMO

I'll take that bet, pokes don't finish above sixth and probably lower. Schroyer is a horrible coach, I agree he did get some bad breaks, but it is not like he came into wyoming with a bare cupboard. He had the two leading scorers in brad jones and brandon ewing and a top three rebounder in joeseph taylor but some how he was able to make the play in game when the same squad was a play away from making the conf tournament championship a year before. I am not a fan of the prior coaching regime but Mcclain got fired for having the same record as schroyers best year (in which he got an extension). Schroyer has got to go if he doesn't finish fourth or better and a NIT bid (no CBI tourney that just pisses me off and is a waste of money). I hope I am wrong and schroyer turns it around and makes some noise, but I am willing to bet that don't happen.

All the bad breaks were his fault. Players left because they were treated like s##t
Do we know this for sure? Afam and Adam getting hurt didn't help. It also didn't help that AJ Davis wasn't a good player, but acted like he was. The guy was good for two charges per game. Same with Manzano, who I was looking forward to seeing. Sadly, he didn't show much.

I'm with Wyopokefan23. I don't think the Pokes can win the conference, but we can push for a top half finish....if we stay healthy. We have some rebounding help and some shooting help. Both of which have been sorely missed. Bottom line is we beat SDSU with Afam and almost beat UNM. This was before the emergence of Jackson.

If Heath can't get these guys to finish better than 6th, then he should be gone. Why? Because we actually have some talent this year.

Just a top 5 finish? Thats not gonna get it done for me, I was thinking atleast a top 3. I think I'll try to make atleast 1 game in Laramie this year but Im sure I'll hit up one in TCU

The difference between a crappy coach and a good coach is the good coach can still have success during adversity and the crappy coach puts his "crappiness" on the court. Which one is HS)

Schroyer has not had a winning record in conference since he has been here. He has finished 8th twice and 6th as his best season. He lost in two play in games. Airforces only conference victories have come against wyoming teams. To top it off Desmar Jackson (our best player) didn't play half the year because Schroyer thought Jaydee Luster and Aj Davis were better players.

All this equals shitty coach to me.

Heath Schroyer is the VIc Koening of basketball.

This season should be very interesting. I actually find myself looking forward to it. Turning a football program around takes multiple recruiting classes and an entire team full of good players before any results are seen. On the other hand, seeing drastic turn arounds from one season to the next is not at all uncommon in college basketball. All it takes is one or two players to drastically change how a season goes. Did we bring in any players who are capable of that? I'm not sure, but at least they address the weaknesses UW had last year.

I've been lucky enough to catch some of the pick-up games the team has been playing. Here are some things that caught my eye:

- Brian Gibson wasn't the leading rebounder in JUCO ball for no reason. He is a monster on the defensive glass, but doesn't seem to have the same mentality when it comes to hitting the offensive glass. I really liked the way this guys plays defense in general and he should alter a few shots every game.

- Desmar Jackson looks like he is even better than he was last year. He should be our "go-to" guy when we need a play made. I'm very interested in seeing what this guy can do as the star of the team.

- Paco Cruz is a legitimate shooter. He may not lead the conference in 3-point percentage, but he is consistent and not one of those guys that flucuates between hot and cold streaks.

- Afam Muojeke is never going to return to his freshman form. It's not fun to watch, but you can tell the guy isn't as explosive as he used to be. I know its still a little early to make a claim like that, but I just don't see him ever getting back to pre-injury form. He is still good enough to see a good amount of minutes on the floor, but he won't be our #1 option anymore. Let's hope he can find his role on the team and accept it.

- Joe Hudson "wowed" me the most out of any of the newcomers. He has a good shooting stroke and can knock down shots both off the catch and the dribble. We all knew he was supposed to be a prolific shooter, but his knock in HS was that he wasn't strong enough to get to the rim and just hovered around the 3-point line all game looking for his shot (ie. Eric Platt). That is not what I saw when I watched him play. I watched at least 3 different guys guard him and he scored on each and everyone of them at will. Is our defense that bad or has he improved his game over the summer/fall? I guess only time will tell.

- Amath M'Baye has made some big strides since last season. All of that potential that everyone kept talking about last season seems to be emerging. If he plays like he did the day I watched, he will earn himself a starting spot.

We should have another season just like Shroyers lone winning season. Beat up on nobodies and then maybe if we can pull a few games our way go 8-8 in conference.
Problems I see this year, Afam is selfish! He will want to be the go to guy even when there is someone better on the court. It showed his freshman year when he would go down the lane with three guys on him and not dish off to Ewing or Jones (who were open). that wasn't a one time deal every game either. He did that at least three or four times a game. That or he wouldn't run the offense, he would just throw up a crazy three point shot from 26 feet away and 70% of those didn't go in.
Last year he wanted to be the leader and got his chance. What we got Afam vs the opponent. one on one (or three or four) basketball. It was the stupidest thing I've seen. I don't think he can play team basketball. Jackson can at least dish it off when in trouble. There are four other guys on the court for a reason, use them.

Afam...

Is he going to put in an effort this year? He was a lazy and half-assed (effort wise) player even before he got hurt, makes me wonder if he will ever be the same. Then again, he doesn't have Ewing to help cover his ass (like his FR year)...maybe this is all a mute point.

Oh, and odds on JayDee (JD, JayD, JDee, whatever) being around after this season? 1:1 at best.
